Job Summary:
The Institute for Healthcare Quality, Safety, and Efficiency (IHQSE) aims to transform, through discovery, improvement, and spread, the people and processes that serve our patients. As a new role within the IHQSE leadership team, the Marketing and Communications Program Manager will directly contribute to the operations of a fast-growing, innovative organization working to enhance the quality, safety, and efficiency of healthcare delivery. This position will have the unique opportunity to build a program, team, and presence that will support the aggressive growth of the IHQSE at a campus and national level.
Key Responsibilities:
Programmatic Growth and Leadership (20%)
- Build (as needed), implement, and maintain IHQSE communications program, both to external and internal audiences.
- Provide strategic and tactical inputs in pursuit of the IHQSE vision.
- Create an IHQSE marketing & communications plan that includes strategies, goals, and tactics.
- Own the outcomes of the IHQSE communications program.
- Ensure accelerated growth in the reach of the IHQSE communications program.
Brand Awareness, Advertising, and Lead Generation (20%)
- Complete market research to understand competition and opportunities for growth nationally and on campus.
- Create and implement branded advertising campaigns for email, social media, and other platforms.
- Organize and segment email marketing lists and design email campaigns for targeted audiences.
- Monitor the effectiveness of communication and social media efforts.
Digital Presence (20%)
- Aggressively increase social media footprint and presence.
- Create, manage, and post content for social media.
- Update and maintain website.
- Monitor and react to website and social media analytics.
Content Creation (15%)
- Develop and write stories about IHQSE programs, teams, and participant successes.
- Explore and lead opportunities for IHQSE to develop novel podcast, video, and webinar products.
- Develop annual reports and other external communications.
IHQSE Community (15%)
- Build, grow, and maintain the IHQSE ecosystem to offer value for customers across all our programs.
- Ensure that IHQSE alumni continue to receive value after primary programming by creating new avenues for engagement.
- Manage newsletters and alumni communications.
Awards and Awareness (5%)
- In collaboration with institute leadership, develop and maintain internal IHQSE awards and showcase programs.
- Ensure IHQSE is nominating alumni for local, regional, and national awards.
- Promote IHQSE alumni and faculty on social media and other platforms.
- Ensure IHQSE is present and represented at all appropriate national meetings.
Leadership & Collaboration (5%)
- Active contribution to the IHQSE senior leadership team.
- Responsible for driving IHQSE performance toward vision and annual goals.
- Special projects and other duties as requested by the IHQSE Director.
- Build and maintain relationships with department leaders, faculty, trainees, and staff.
- Collaborate with colleagues at CU Anschutz Medical Campus, UCHealth, Children’s Hospital Colorado, and other partners as appropriate.
- Identify and implement best practices regarding communication practices, strategies, and tools.
- Attend campus communications meetings as needed.
Reporting Structure:
- Reports to the IHQSE Manager of Finance & Operations.
- Will be an active member of the IHQSE Senior Leadership Team.
Work Location:
This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule, with attendance on the Anschutz Medical Campus as needed for in-person programs and meetings (approximately 4-8 days/month). Over time the position may require more on-campus time.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- At least 4 years of experience working in communications, public relations, social media, or marketing field(s).
- Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, marketing, communications, public or media relations, journalism, or other related fields.
- At least 3 years of professional experience working in an academic and/or healthcare environment.
- Basic knowledge of medical care terms, environments, and culture.
- Demonstrated experience in building a communications program.
- Experience with project management, prioritization, timelines, and ensuring on-time deliverables.
- Experience with graphic design (such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar products).
- Experience in marketing, branding, and awareness building.
- Experience working with web content management systems (Sitefinity).
- Experience in search engine optimization, website building, and analytics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Passion for building and maintaining a world-class communications program.

- Well-developed professional skills in the areas of program planning, management, and evaluation.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and tactical execution.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, fellows, residents, students, alumni, and administrative personnel at all levels, including outside organizations and the public.
- A demonstrated ability to independently manage and respond to support customer needs and requests in a professional, timely manner.
- Attention to detail, exceptional organization, excellent knowledge of editing and grammar
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, handle a fast-paced environment.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $65,105 to $82,814.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
