We are currently seeking a creative and dedicated Marketing & Events Coordinator to join our team and help further our mission.
Position Overview:
The Marketing & Events Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the Marketing Manager to execute a variety of marketing initiatives and community events that align with the Moscow Food Co-op’s mission. This role focuses on social media management, event coordination, community outreach, and digital marketing efforts, all aimed at furthering our commitment to promoting healthy, sustainable living in Moscow.
This full-time role (38-40 hrs per week) supports the Marketing Manager in executing a wide range of marketing initiatives, event coordination, and community outreach efforts. The ideal candidate will have a passion for local food, sustainability, and community engagement. This position includes varied shifts, with some early mornings, evenings, weekends, and availability during holidays and university breaks. Preference will be given to candidates with year-round availability.

Key Responsibilities:
Administrative & Marketing Support:
- Provide general administrative and marketing support, including phone coverage, filing, scanning, data entry, and calendar management.
- Prepare educational materials for both Co-op owners and the broader community, highlighting consumer, nutrition, food, environmental, and cooperative issues.
- Assist with content creation for the Moscow Food Co-op's publications, including the Fresh Flyer and e-newsletter, promoting sales, community activities, and Co-op news.
- Assist with social media management and website content, ensuring timely and engaging posts.
- Stay informed about the natural foods industry and trends that may affect the Co-op and our marketing strategies.
- Support the Marketing Manager in creating promotional materials and campaigns that align with the Co-op’s goals and brand standards.
- Perform other tasks as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the marketing department.
Event & Program Coordination:
- Plan and coordinate various in-store and community events, such as demos, classes, speaking programs, and community outreach initiatives (e.g., FLOWER, Change for Good, and Business Partner Programs).
- Manage the Co-op’s demo program, including scheduling local vendors and ensuring effective promotional efforts for each demo.
- Coordinate event logistics in collaboration with the Marketing and Store Managers, including securing event spaces, managing vendor relationships, tracking attendance, and handling marketing materials.
- Strategize with the Marketing Manager to create and launch new events aimed at increasing community engagement and driving sales.
- Capture high-quality photos for event promotions, product photography, and other Co-op needs while maintaining a consistent brand style.
Graphic Design Support:
- Assist in creating in-house promotional materials such as department signs, recipe cards, gift cards, and merchandise, ensuring adherence to brand guidelines.
- Support logo development, packaging design, and create templates for department use.
- Help produce quarterly publications, ensuring the quality and timeliness of materials.
- Design and update Board of Directors materials, including annual reports and election materials.
Customer Service & Co-op Standards:
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, both internally and externally, by following the Co-op’s service standards (e.g., 10-4 service rule).
- Address customer questions and concerns with professionalism and a customer-first attitude.
- Collaborate with other staff to ensure smooth customer service, including managing complaints and resolving issues effectively.
- Maintain regular, predictable attendance and flexibility with scheduling, including holidays, evenings, and weekends.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of experience in marketing, event coordination, or graphic design in a retail or grocery store environment preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Canva, Google Workspace Tools, and general office software.
- Effective communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work as part of a team and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, vendors, and the public.
- Flexible and dependable, with a willingness to work varied hours, including holidays and university breaks.
- Basic understanding of natural foods and the retail industry.
Preferred
- Year-round availability and flexibility with scheduling.
- Experience in event planning, social media management, and graphic design.
- Familiarity with cooperative business models and community-focused organizations.
- A strong commitment to the Co-op's mission of supporting sustainability, local food systems, and wellness.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain standing or sitting for long periods.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds; push/pull carts and racks up to 200 pounds.
- Ability to tolerate varying temperatures and work in a retail environment.
- Frequent kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching, and visual tasks such as preparing and analyzing reports.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 – 40 per week
