SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Marketing Director at University Heights Baptist Church will oversee marketing strategies, manage social media content, and enhance the church's community presence while collaborating with various ministry teams.
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Marketing Director serves a very important role in representing University Heights Baptist Church and its organizations to both the congregation and the community. This role serves as the lead marketer for all the church’s marketing and communication strategies and creative content on Facebook, Instagram, website, and internal creative content such as sermon notes and Sunday morning presentations of University Heights Baptist Church. This position works with the children, youth, college, and pastoral teams to help ensure all areas are highlighted online and stories of life change are captured and shared.
JOB CLASSIFICATION:
This is a salaried, part-time position, based on a 12-hour work week. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: The Marketing Director reports to the Church Administrator with oversight by the Senior Pastor and is responsible to the local body through the church personnel committee for employment requirements and responsibilities. This position will have direct contact with church membership and paid staff. RESPONSIBILITIES: Following is a general list of basic required duties. The Marketing Director will be subject to the church’s constitution and personnel policy and is guided under the direct supervision of the Church Administrator with oversight by the Senior Pastor and Personnel Committee. This list is not inclusive of all of the activities and functions and other duties may be assigned by the team member’s supervisor: ● Lead in the development of the strategic direction for all marketing and communications (including the design, content, infrastructure, and delivery) for both church events and individual ministries. ● Design all graphics including sermon series, church events, Bible Studies, website, announcements, newspapers, magazines, direct mail, banners/signage, print brochures posters, etc. ● Schedule, design, script, and distribute UHBC’s weekly church-wide bulletin, announcements, marketing emails etc. ● Update marketing aspects of the church as needed ● Manage workflow, turnaround time, and performance ● Regular (multiple times per week) updates in the various ministry areas on Instagram, Facebook, social media, etc…maintaining a regular presence through the various marketing tools available to the church ● Maintain a high level of accuracy to the brand and style guide of UHBC 2 Approved by Personnel October 2024 ● Provide regular updates to the style guide based on current trends and input to the senior pastor and various ministry areas as needed ● Seek ways to partner with various Christian ministries on the campus of Oklahoma State University to maximize the reach and impact of UHBC and partner with other organizations of like-mindedness. ● Ensure marketing and advertising expenses are made in compliance with the budget. Negotiate terms/costs. Obtain approval for large expenditures. ● Provide guidance to continue developing the ‘voice’ of UHBC across all communication methods. ● Provide assistance, input and ideas for special events, projects, videos ● Capture or lead others to capture still and video footage at UHBC events that can be used in social media or marketing aspects of the church. ● Proactively maintain and enhance UHBC’s presence (website, mobile app, social media, search engines, etc.) Includes website pages, web and app, calendar events, graphics, push notifications, engaging social media content, and new technology. ● Deliver excellence in timeliness, accuracy, design, layout, and ease of use for all marketing pieces. ● Develop, implement, and manage external communication efforts. Build and foster long-term working relationships with media, members of the community, OSU, public relations, or community affairs. ● Attend meetings (weekly or monthly) as requested. ● Brainstorm ideas for upcoming events. ● Work with each ministry lead to come up with creative ways to promote events (internal and external) REQUIREMENTS: ● Be or become a member of University Heights Baptist Church. ● Agreement and support of the UHBC constitution, bylaws and policies. ● Passing criminal, financial, and sexual misconduct background checks. ● Commitment to Biblical Christian principles and teaching, both professionally and personally. ● Supportive of the Senior Pastor, Church Leadership, and overall church direction. ● Requires commitment to biblical principles and teachings both professionally and personally. ● Requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and degrees in marketing, social media, or a related field are preferred. ● Requires the ability to listen effectively and to communicate clearly, both orally and in written form. ● Requires exceptional teaching skills and the ability to speak confidently before groups. ● Experience in graphic design, marketing, social media etc…across multiple channels (print, digital, etc…) ● Experience in marketing management and strategic planning, complemented with a proven track record in developing and administering marketing programs. 3 Approved by Personnel October 2024 ● Computer competencies related to service planning and presentation. ● Strong computer skills – including Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Website Development etc. ● Effective communication skills for one-on-one, small and large group settings. ● Participation in serving the local church body. ● Ability to track and measure the success of social media posts and advertising. ● Ability to attend to detail. ● Spirit of teamwork and collaboration. ● Be timely ● Experience in Planning Center and Pro-Presenter. ● Photography experience recommended, but not required. ● Excellent knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok, YouTube, and other social media platforms. ● Ability to listen effectively and to communicate clearly, both orally and in written form. ● Personal integrity and holiness are part of the job and an ability to hold confidential information is vital in this position. ● Requires sufficient good health to perform the essential functions of the job. ● Requires the ability to walk, stand and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time. ● Requires passing criminal, financial and sexual misconduct background checks.
