The Marketing Director oversees marketing functions, develops strategies to enhance brand awareness, drives sales through effective campaigns, and collaborates with teams to implement marketing initiatives.
Purpose and Scope of Position
The Marketing Director and Internal Consultant (the Director) oversees the entire marketing function, including the companys promotion and advertising efforts, to drive sales and build brand awareness. The Director works closely with the Executive Leadership Team to build a brand that reflects the varied missions of the WD Companies and connects with the values of customers. The role acts as marketing team lead, and develops and enforces guidelines for producing promotional content and interacting with customers. The Director develops an overall marketing plan, approves campaigns, KPIs, measures the return on investment of various advertising methods, and develops and implements brand campaign strategy. Duties also include conducting competitor research.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the marketing department and oversee the launch of new products or promotions.
Coordinate market research and analyze the resulting data to identify the values and buying habits of target customers.
Assess and create the companys marketing plans and strategies, and planning, coordinating, and directing marketing efforts.
Conduct competitor research, including assessing demand for services and products.
Other duties of the Director may include:
Marketing Strategy and Planning
Communicate the marketing plan.
Build brand awareness, including positioning.
Identify the companys potential customers.
Develop marketing strategies for new products or services that comply with current company goals.
Collaborate with other executives to make high-level decisions regarding the budget and the direction of company marketing efforts.
Advertising and Promotions
Create and manage advertising campaigns.
Develop promotions.
Review current marketing trends and advertisements to determine the effectiveness of different styles and strategies.
Project Management
Coordinate marketing projects from beginning to end.
Manage a calendar scheduling the creation of each piece of content and the planned release of each piece of content.
Outline a product timeline and oversee the projects successful execution.
Content Creation
Work with in-house counterparts and other content creators to create the desired content.
Create and maintain a successful brand and image that attracts customers to the product or service.
Financial Management
Develops and understands finance and budgets to include research and development appropriations, expenditures, and profit-loss projections.
Create and manage budgets for the department.
Analyze sales numbers in comparison to the marketing budget to find the profit margin and which campaigns were most effective.
Market Research
Research competitors to stay current with similar products or services.
Compile lists that describe the companys offerings.
Relationship Management
Develop, with the various members of WD Companies sales, marketing, and communications teams, successful strategies and campaigns that attract new customers and retain current clients.
Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors whose products or services will be needed for the product.
Product Management
Determine the type of advertising and marketing content that should be created and distributed.
Ensure performance data used in marketing narratives are managed, accurate, current, and consistent across all WD brands.
Manage a calendar scheduling the creation of each piece of content and the planned release of each piece of content.
Work with in-house or external writers and other content creators to create the desired content.
Outline a product timeline and oversee the projects successful execution.
Create and manage budgets for product marketing.

Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree: Marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
Master's Degree (Optional): An MBA or a master's in marketing is preferred.
