Since 2019, ULP has managed state-of-the-art wet lab facilities and the benefits of peer-to-peer interactions among a life science-focused entrepreneurial community developing cutting-edge medical innovations that save and improve human lives.
ULP is dedicated to creating a culture of innovation by providing resources and building the necessary network to facilitate the path from idea to research and intellectual property development to commercially viable enterprises and domestically manufactured products. ULP develops entrepreneurs in Orange County and provides an atmosphere supporting innovation and creating new jobs and businesses. While making the most of its existing relationships with Industry professionals, universities, philanthropic entities, government officials, and regional stakeholders, ULP also forges new relationships to connect economic development and technology commercialization resources. As part of the process, ULP serves as a landing ground for life science innovators and supporters by hosting educational and thought-leadership events to provide resources and connections so start-ups can thrive.
Position Overview
To support our growth, University Lab Partners is opening a new Marketing Manager role. We are seeking an experienced, innovative and collaborative team member who will build and evolve our marketing activities. This individual will also focus on driving growth, leveraging data-driven marketing strategies, and optimizing the customer journey to achieve measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
● Marketing Strategy and Planning
- Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with ULP’s goals and objectives
- Market Research: Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape to inform marketing strategies
- Brand Management: Develop, evolve and execute ULP’s brand, ensuring consistency across all marketing materials and communications, and in alignment with our mission
● Growth Marketing
- Customer Acquisition: Design and implement targeted campaigns to acquire new lab space customers, stakeholders, startups, and partners, leveraging a mix of organic, content marketing, and paid strategies
- Funnel Optimization: Optimize the marketing funnel by analyzing each stage to identify drop-off points and implement improvements to increase conversions
- Experimentation: Develop and execute A/B testing and growth experiments to improve campaign performance and discover new marketing opportunities
- Retention Strategies: Create initiatives that enhance stakeholder engagement and long-term retention through personalized campaigns, loyalty programs, or exclusive content
- Metrics and KPIs: Establish, track, and report on key growth metrics, such as CAC, LTV, and ROI, to measure the effectiveness of growth initiatives
● Digital Marketing
- Content Creation: Oversee the creation and distribution of high-quality digital content, including blog posts, videos, webinars, and newsletters
- SEO and SEM: Manage search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) to drive organic and paid traffic to our website
- Social Media: Lead the strategy and execution for all social media channels, including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, to increase engagement and brand awareness
- Engagement: Develop and implement tactics to increase engagement, followers, and brand awareness on social media
- Community Building: Foster and manage online communities, engaging with followers, industry influencers, and stakeholders
- Content Calendar: Create and maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent and relevant social media presence
- Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and analyze digital campaign performance using analytics tools, providing regular reports and insights to optimize strategies
● Traditional Marketing
- Event Management: Coordinate with our Director, Philanthropy to execute events, including conferences, webinars, and workshops, to promote the incubator/accelerator and its portfolio companies
- Public Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets, industry influencers, and stakeholders to enhance the incubator’s visibility and reputation
- Collateral Development: Oversee the creation of marketing collateral, such as brochures, flyers, and presentations, to support business development efforts
● Stakeholder Engagement
- Community Building: Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including startups, investors, partners, and industry leaders
- CRM Management: Develop and execute a CRM strategy to manage and nurture relationships with current and potential stakeholders, including startups, investors, and partners
- CRM Strategy: Develop and execute a CRM strategy to manage and nurture relationships with current and potential stakeholders, including startups, investors, and partners
- Database Management: Oversee the CRM database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information
- Campaign Management: Design and implement targeted CRM campaigns to drive customer leads, engagement and retention
- Performance Metrics: Track and analyze CRM metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives, making data-driven recommendations for improvements
Qualifications:
We are seeking candidates with 5+ years of experience for developing and executing a range of traditional and digital marketing activities, preferably with experience working with incubators, accelerators, early-stage companies and/or in the life sciences industry. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field; equivalent experience may substitute for education.
The qualified candidate will have:
● Digital Marketing: strong knowledge of digital marketing tools and platforms, including Google Analytics, SEO/SEM, and social media management tools
● CRM Proficiency: Experience with CRM systems and database management, preferably with extensive knowledge of HubSpot CRM, Sales, Service and Marketing Hubs
● Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
● Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present to senior leadership and external stakeholders
● Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and drive results in a fast-paced environment
● Industry Passion: A genuine interest in the life sciences industry and a passion for supporting the growth and success of early-stage companies in the life science area

● Strong interpersonal skills across all mediums and with diverse groups
● Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain, and leverage an extensive network of professional contacts and relationships
● Highly developed skills and expertise in organizational, program, and project management with the ability to measure performance and implement continuous improvement
● Demonstrates problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
● Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in business software suites and use customer relationship management, marketing, and outreach software applications
● Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple partners and stakeholders and effectively coordinate collaborative work
● Ability to develop peer, cross functional and cross business relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness
● Proven ability to provide leadership and direction to cross-functional teams to successfully implement systems, processes and related solutions
Compensation and Benefits:
ULP offers highly competitive compensation commensurate with experience. The base salary range for this role is $100,000 to $125,000 annually, with a bonus opportunity and a comprehensive benefits package.
