Marketing Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
The Marketing Manager is responsible for the overall operations of Sacramento Natural Foods Co-ops (SNFC) Marketing department. This position leads the development and implementation of branding, advertising, messaging, social media, education and community relations programs that foster enthusiasm for SNFCs products and services and differentiates the Co-op from its competitors. They manage personnel and processes to ensure consistency of marketing programs. The Marketing Manager works closely with the General Manager to develop and implement strategies to grow SNFCs business capacity, customer base, and membership in a manner that honors the values of SNFC and the cooperative identity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Uphold all SNFC policies, procedures and expectations.
- Department Operations, Branding and Outreach
- Develops and maintains creative branding, marketing, social media and outreach programs that promote and celebrate SNFCs products, programs and services, attract customers from diverse backgrounds and grows membership in the Co-op.
- Ensures the Marketing department operates effectively, efficiently and facilitates day-to-day department operations and guarantees performance standards are met.
- Ensures that information for newsletters, promotions/advertising, and media/customer inquiries are received and delivered according to procedure.
- Acts as primary contact for public relations, with special interest groups and media in a manner that strengthens SNFCs image.
- Remains current with marketing needs for the Board of Directors in a manner that meets expectations and governance responsibilities.
- Monitor to ensure SNFCs marketing programs are carried out throughout the Co-op.
- Models, provides and ensures a high level of internal service to Operations.
- Reports customer suggestions, comments or complaints to the appropriate departments.

Employee Management and Development
- Establishes clear expectations for direct reports with a means to hold each other accountable to ensure expectations are met.
- Interviews and hires employees according to SNFCs procedures.
- Establishes procedures to ensure proper administration of department programs.
- Conducts regular performance evaluations and creates training and development opportunities that enhance the employees abilities and builds upon their skills, knowledge and abilities
- Supervises work performance and conduct of personnel and upholds SNFCs performance management practices of offering progressive corrective action and staff recognition as needed and in accordance with Co-op policies, procedures, and legal guidelines.
- Facilitates regular team and/or department meetings.
- Models behaviors that support the values of Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op, through supportive and participatory leadership practices, promoting cooperative team building and motivating staff to achieve goals.

Strategic Development
- Under the direction of the General Manager, develops and creates tactical plans, goals, and objectives that align with SNFCs organizational strategy.
- Directs the work and oversees the implementation of creative funding strategies, maintenance of the community donation and outreach programs and activities, production of internal and external communications that strengthen community partnerships.
- Follows department budget as directed by the General Manager.

Safety and Security
- Ensures that all department personnel learn and use safe practices per SNFCs Accident Prevention Program and addresses safety and security concerns promptly.
- Supports SNFCs security and safety protocols and establishes strong departmental control measures.
- Maintains equipment in working order; researches and recommends equipment repair and replacement options as needed.

Other Duties
- Supports the values of the cooperative principles in their daily work.
- Compiles or contributes to reports as requested.
- Performs other duties and works in other departments as assigned.
- Must be available to work hours based on the needs of the business and their department.

Required Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in management.
- 4+ years progressive experience in marketing or advertising or 1 2 years of experience and a marketing or public relations degree.
- 1+ years experience as a spokesperson or media liaison or marketing or public relations degree.
- Experience creating and producing print and digital advertisements that support a brand and marketing strategy.

- Comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, memos and administrative reporting.
- Communicate effectively in oral or written form.
- Effectively present information to people of diverse backgrounds in both one-on-one and group environments.

Computer Skills
- Proficiency in typing skills and word processing, spreadsheet (MS Office and Publisher) email and internet software.
- Experience with graphics and print media software and equipment such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop).
- Experience with content management systems such as WordPress and analyzing data in Google Analytics

- Bachelor or Masters Degree in Marketing and Public Relations
- Previous marketing or public relations experience for a business that grew to multiple locations.
- Previous marketing or public relations experience for co-ops or grocery stores.
