Position Summary

The Marketing Manager at Scatena Daniels serves as a cornerstone of our mission to empower clients through strategic and impactful communications efforts. This role is integral to the development and execution of well-rounded and effective marketing strategies that help clients achieve their goals, with a strong emphasis on the nonprofit sector. The Marketing Manager collaborates closely with clients, internal teams, and strategic partners, fostering relationships and ensuring that all campaigns and initiatives meet or exceed expectations. In addition to marketing strategy and execution, the Marketing Manager plays a key role in driving business growth for Scatena Daniels, assisting with agency business development efforts. The Marketing Manager will report to our Co-CEOs and Founding Partners, Arika Daniels and Denise Scatena.

Location

This position is hybrid, with 1 to 2 in-office days weekly for those who reside in San Diego County. While remote, this position will support as necessary our clients and fellow team members in the field for events, meetings, etc. Our office is located in Downtown San Diego in the Industrious workspace with our own office area. For employees who live outside of San Diego County, we require one in-office day each month.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage comprehensive marketing and branding strategies and campaigns that align with clients' missions and objectives, such as promoting nonprofit events, awareness campaigns, and fundraising initiatives to maximize participation, donations, and community engagement.
  • Create and present marketing plans, with timelines, target audience personas, branding elements, key messages, etc.
  • Manage and optimize digital marketing efforts for designated clients and for our agency, including website management, social media marketing, email campaigns, and online advertising.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for designated clients, understanding their needs, and collaborating to achieve their marketing goals.
  • Assist and manage the creation of impactful content, such as blog posts, social media content, videos, and graphic design projects, tailored to the unique needs of nonprofit clients.
  • Presents strategy to agency teammates and clients to ensure the best use of resources to achieve objectives; communicates adjustments and new ideas when appropriate.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of marketing campaigns, providing data-driven insights and making necessary adjustments and recommendations to improve performance as needed.
  • Creating reports to demonstrate the effectiveness of client investment and resources in their marketing and social media strategies.
  • Manage marketing budgets efficiently, ensuring the effective allocation of resources for client success.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in creative services (i.e. social media, digital marketing, websites, SEO, graphic design etc.).
  • Assists in the creation of accurate scopes of work and projects for agency new business proposals and RFPs, specifically for integrated communications, marketing, branding, social media projects, and comprehensive engagements..
  • Actively participate in networking events, community engagement activities, and professional gatherings to cultivate relationships and generate new business leads for the agency.
  • Assists with agency marketing initiatives, including social media marketing, blog post creation, and email newsletters.
  • Integrate SEO principles into client work.
  • Willing to learn accessibility communications principles and integrate them into client work.

Background Profile:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of marketing management experience, with a proven track record in the nonprofit sector or PR agency serving nonprofits. Experience in the for-profit sector will also be considered.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of nonprofit marketing, communications, and fundraising principles.
  • Exceptional communication, writing, and editing skills.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing, including social media, email marketing, and SEO.
  • Experience with buying media, managing influencers, and graphic design are a plus.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently. Working with project management software systems is a plus.
  • A passion for serving nonprofit clients and driving positive change.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the nonprofit/philanthropic sector with hands-on experience in marketing, public relations, and strategic communications.
  • Experience supporting the marketing and communication elements of major events and announcements such as galas, fundraising campaigns, capital campaigns, groundbreaking and opening events, etc.
  • Ability to identify and communicate human interest stories in an authentic and respectful manner.
  • Excited to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional attitude.
  • A proactive multi-tasker, with the ability to prioritize and meet numerous deadlines.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of current marketing trends, digital strategies, and PESO tactics.
  • Willing to attend networking and professional development events on behalf of our agency.
  • Preferred experience in identifying new business leads, developing proposals, and contributing to business development efforts.
  • Willing to process constructive feedback and quickly integrate it into daily workflow and client management.
  • Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
