QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, 2-3 years of marketing experience (preferably in arts or non-profit), experience with email marketing software, strong writing skills, familiarity with Google Ads, and a passion for live music and community engagement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and implement marketing campaigns for single events, develop community partnerships, manage email marketing initiatives, oversee Google Ads performance, coordinate TSO's presence at community events, and assist in general marketing and ticketing operations.

SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Tucson Symphony Orchestra is seeking a Marketing Manager to develop marketing strategies that boost ticket sales and foster community engagement through partnerships and outreach initiatives.
Formed in 1928-29 as the first professional symphony orchestra in the Southwest, the TSO is the longest continuously performing professional arts organization in Arizona. The mission of the organization is to build and enrich community through the experience of live music of the highest quality. It serves more than 120,000 lives each year, including 35,000 students, through concerts, educational programming, and outreach.
Under the artistic leadership of Music Director José Luis Gomez since 2016, the TSO’s vision is to reflect its many communities and bring them together through music, creating deeper connections with the region’s heritage and making music for all Tucson and southern Arizona.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Tucson Symphony Orchestra (TSO) seeks a dynamic and forward-thinking Marketing Manager. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, this position will play a key role in the marketing team and work frequently with the community engagement team, by creating engaging single event ticket sales campaigns that achieve sales goals, and by pursuing and developing community partnerships.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Campaign Development and Sales
With VP of Marketing, creates engaging campaigns that maximize both attendance and revenue through the following strategies:
Email marketing
- Writes and designs compelling email campaigns for individual concerts.
- Uses existing segments to create specialized messaging and targets.
- With team, develops discount opportunities to drive sales and raise awareness.
- Reports on campaign results and effectiveness and suggests adjustments as needed.
- Manages list trades and exchanges to maximize visibility and reach.
Business partnerships
- Seeks out local partner organizations and businesses to create promotional opportunities that connect with and attract emerging audiences.
- Identifies target audience segments and develops targeted campaigns to promote events to new audiences.
Google ads and grant
- Maintains the google ad grant program, including creating monthly reports
- Creates monthly reports on performance and adjusts campaign tactics appropriately.
- Compiles data from emails and digital ads to determine trends.
Community Partnerships
In partnership with VP of Marketing and Director of Education and Community Engagement, employ strategies to raise awareness of the TSO and its programs by creating and developing meaningful and impactful community-led partnerships through multiple channels.
Community Events
- Seeks out and organizes TSO presence at community events.
- Represents the TSO at community and networking events.
Tucson Tix
- With VP of Marketing and Director of Education and Community Engagement, develops and implements the new TucsonTix program offering free tickets to youth and select community partners including program development, recruitment, and tracking.
General Marketing
- Helps with development of single ticket guide, including preparing information and proofing, and distribution.
- May be box-office cross-trained, and will occasionally help cover ticket windows.
- Regularly works concerts and associated events on evenings and weekends.
- May assist other marketing team members in high-volume periods.
- Will occasionally manage volunteer ushers at concerts.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- BA in marketing, communications, or related field (or relevant experience)
- 2-3 years Marketing experience, preferably in an arts or non-profit setting
- Experience creating and implementing campaigns
- Familiarity with email marketing software
- Comfort talking to diverse audiences
- Strong writing skills, with great attention to detail
- Experience with Google Ads a plus
- Passion for live music
- Strong familiarity with the Tucson community
- Ability to communicate with multiple audiences
- Passion for the arts as a tool of change
- Commitment to inclusion and access in the arts
- Creative thinking skills, with the ability to problem solve and think on your feet
- This position will frequently work nights and weekends. Flexible scheduling is available during the week
