SHORT DESCRIPTION
The American Museum of Natural History seeks a Marketing Manager to support its Global Business Development team by driving sales, creating marketing materials, and enhancing client communications.
Posting Details
The Business Development department is seeking a full-time Marketing Manager to support the Global Business Development (GBD) sales and client services teams and report to the Director of GBD.
Current business lines include traveling exhibitions, intellectual properties, planetarium content and licensing. The GBD team serves over 120 partner institutions on six continents. Distribution of this content fulfills the Museum’s mission to promote science literacy and education, creates increased visibility for AMNH and the sponsors of its programs and generates revenue for Museum programs.
The Marketing Manager works with the GBD department head as well as other internal sales staff, operations managers, scientists/educators and external partners.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage marketing outreach to drive sales to partnering institutions.
- Create and distribute a monthly client e-newsletter and other targeted emails.
- Create sales materials, including brochures, presentations, proposals and departmental web pages.
- Update and maintain a contact database, create reports and perform basic analysis as necessary.
- Coordinate attendance at partner meetings, trade shows and other sales events.
- Research competitive products and industry trends, creating and maintaining research databases and presentations.
- Lead the development and implementation of support materials to enhance client marketing efforts.
- Head the review and approvals of client marketing and publicity materials.
- Serve as client liaison to support marketing and other non-operational questions.
- Manage the internal review process for special licensing projects, track and chart progress and create project updates.
The expected salary range for the Marketing Manager is $60,000/annual – $67,000/annual. This position is overtime-eligible and the AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.
Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Three years work experience in a B2B marketing role.
- Sound understanding of the principles of marketing.
- Experience with MailChimp or similar email marketing platform.
- Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM.
- Experience with eZ publish or similar CMS.
- Experience with copywriting.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills.
- Graphic design skills and experience working with the Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign and Photoshop).
- Work experience at a museum, non-profit or educational institution/education-affiliated business.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to move about the Museum campus.
