SHORT DESCRIPTION

The National Account Manager will develop and manage the relationship with Target to achieve sales goals for Peet's coffee brands, collaborating across departments for successful execution of account strategies.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Sales CPG, the National Account Manager (NAM), Target will lead, develop, manage, and optimize the business relationship with Target Headquarters. This high-profile role is responsible for driving and delivering sales and profit goals for Peet’s premium and super-premium coffee brands (Peet’s, Caribou, Intelligentsia, and Stumptown). The NAM will work closely with Target’s key stakeholders and Peet’s cross-functional teams, including Planning, Insights, Marketing, Operations, and Distribution, to build comprehensive account strategies, drive successful product launches, and achieve financial objectives. This is a full-time, exempt position based in Minneapolis.

Essential Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Analyze business trends in the coffee category, aligning strategies with Target’s objectives.
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities to drive sales growth and strengthen partnerships.
  • Utilize Peet’s data and insights to develop strategic account plans focused on distribution expansion, promotional strategies, and display optimization.
  • Own and refine sales forecasts.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activities to proactively adjust sales strategies and capitalize on emerging opportunities.

Relationship Management:

  • Build and sustain strong relationships with Target buyers and key decision-makers to align mutual goals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within Peet’s to execute seamless account strategies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Target Headquarters, representing Peet’s with professionalism and category expertise.

Financial & Performance Management:

  • Manage sales budgets within company guidelines and optimize resources to maximize return on investment.
  • Analyze sales data and key performance indicators to track performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive actionable insights.
  • Work closely with revenue management and finance partners to optimize P&L and financial investments.

Operational Excellence:

  • Own day-to-day operations with Target, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficiency and superior execution.
  • Lead the development and execution of account business plans, providing consistent updates and actionable insights to all stakeholders.
  • Track, report, and communicate business results, offering data-driven recommendations to optimize performance.

Brand & Product Advocacy:

  • Serve as a passionate brand ambassador for Peet’s Coffee.
  • Champion Peet’s coffee quality, sustainability practices, and innovation in all external interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Minimum 5+ years of experience managing Target Headquarters accounts or equivalent experience within the Minneapolis retail market.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive profitable growth and build strategic partnerships with major retailers.
  • Strong financial acumen with expertise in analytics, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Target-specific systems (Partners Online, TPPM, etc.).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with marketing, supply chain, insights, and finance teams.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • Embrace Growth Mindset, willingness to learn, openness to new ideas, and be comfortable with change.
  • Local residency in Minneapolis, MN.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with coffee or beverage categories is a strong plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.

Travel Requirements:

  • Field/travel time up to 20%.

The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.
