As an Oncology Market Access Strategy Sr. Manager at AstraZeneca, you will support U.S. market access strategy for an oncology medicine, collaborate across teams, and drive commercialization efforts for a leading oncology portfolio.

AstraZeneca’s vision in Oncology is to help patients by redefining the cancer-treatment paradigm. A broad pipeline of next-generation medicines is focused principally on four disease areas: breast, ovarian, lung and hematological cancers. Along with other tumor types, these are being targeted through four key platforms: immunotherapy, the genetic drivers of cancer and resistance, DNA damage repair, and antibody drug conjugates, underpinned by personalized healthcare and biomarker technologies.

As an Oncology Market Access Strategy Sr. Manager in Oncology Care and Access (“OC&A”) with AstraZeneca, you will have an exciting opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing oncology business within a leading global pharmaceutical company located in Gaithersburg, MD. In this position, you will be responsible for supporting U.S. market access strategy for a leading AstraZeneca oncology medicine. This is a unique opportunity to join a highly visible team with an entrepreneurial spirit to contribute to the commercialization of a leading oncology portfolio and a robust pipeline of products in development!

In this role, you will collaborate with a wide breadth of the organization’s cross-functional teams, to craft, support, and deliver on the product value proposition for patients, providers, and payers to facilitate access and reimbursement. Areas of focus will include development and refinement of clinical value propositions, as well as the access dimension of brand planning, quality initiatives, formulation of strategies for payers and providers, and enabling account director success through clear articulation of strategy and provision of high impact customer assets. You will also have the opportunity to serve and support as a subject matter expert in market access with visibility among organization partners. Typical Accountabilities

  • Works under the direction of the OC&A Access Strategy Director or Senior Director to develop and implement compelling and differentiated product value propositions across key market segments.

  • Assists in the creation and execution of launch access strategy to secure and maintain access, reimbursement, and affordability.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams within AstraZeneca to identify rich market insights across patients, providers, and payers to inform comprehensive market access strategies, associated forecast assumptions, and aligned messaging across segments.

  • Leads the development of market access field resources, programs, and tactics to pull-through market access strategy.

  • Supports account management teams in customer strategy, planning, and execution, e.g., training, and promotional tools/resources.

  • Ensures alignment of strategy with sales organization to generate product demand and pull through.

  • Effectively manages agency relationships ensuring promotional programs are delivered on-time and within budget.

  • Develops and manages associated budgets in compliance with AstraZeneca finance and accounting requirements.

  • Performs all company business in accordance with regulations and company policies and procedures.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Proven experience within the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical market including a minimum of 3 years payer marketing, brand marketing, market research, account management.

  • Strong or emerging understanding of the U.S. market access landscape and the legal/regulatory environment for pharmaceuticals/biopharmaceuticals.

  • Ability to think strategically and translate strategy into tactical implementation.

  • Teamwork and leadership skills, including the ability to gain consensus and act within ambiguous, complex matrix organization.

  • Results oriented with excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Thorough understanding of customer and industry marketing practices and trends.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Relevant Advanced Degree, e.g., MBA, MPH, PharmD, PhD, etc.

  • Experience developing and completing strategy.

  • Experience in oncology and/or managed care/payer experience.

  • Experience in oncology buy-and-bill.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $144,430 .00 to 216,464.00 . Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity and eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits offered include a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
