The Connecticut Audubon Society (CAS) protects Connecticut’s birds, other wildlife, and their habitats through conservation, education, and advocacy. Founded in 1898, CAS manages 22 wildlife sanctuaries, encompassing more than 3,400 acres of open space in Connecticut, and educates over 100,000 children and adults annually. The Connecticut Audubon Society is an independent organization, not affiliated with any national or governmental group.
The Opportunity: Marketing & Events Specialist (part-time)
The Connecticut Audubon Society’s Fairfield Region is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic individual to join our team to oversee marketing, community outreach and events. This position reports to the Director of the Fairfield Region and will work closely with CAS leadership (Executive Director and Director of Communications) as well as staff at both the Fairfield Nature Center and Birdcraft Museum & Sanctuary to execute initiatives that support the Fairfield Region’s programmatic priorities.
Applicants should have experience with both tradition and digital marketing and bring creativity and an eye for detail to support a growing annual calendar of events. Primary Responsibilities
· Strengthen CAS Fairfield Region’s presence in the region through new and expanded partnerships, events and marketing opportunities
- Create content for various platforms, including social media and weekly emails
- Work closely with CAS leadership to deliver localized content and updated materials that align with brand image and message
- Assist with the planning and execution of regional events
- Represent Connecticut Audubon Society in a positive and professional manner
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Degree or 3+ years experience in marketing or related field
- Strong understanding of technology and frequently-used platforms that support marketing, social media and events (i.e. Excel, Canva, Wordpress, Constant Contant, Raiser’s Edge)
- Possess passion for CAS mission
- Physical capability to accomplish the responsibilities of the position
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as needed
Position Location
Based at the Fairfield Nature Center, Fairfield, CT
Salary
20 hours/week. Hourly rate commensurate with experience (range $20-$25).
