Position Highlights
The W. A. Franke Honors College is seeking candidates for a Principal Strategic Partnerships Specialist (Career Strategies Professional IV) that would lead and expand collaboration opportunities between students, faculty, staff, and external partners from industry, government, and community organizations. The Principal Strategic Partnerships Specialist will play a critical role in managing and optimizing systems that foster impactful, real-world learning experiences for students through experiential learning, internships, capstone projects, and industry collaborations.

The Principal Strategic Partnerships Specialist will work closely with Franke academic leaders to integrate professional experiences into the curriculum, preparing students for career success while enhancing the college’s external relationships. This person will also be working cross collaboratively with internal teams regarding partnerships and how it connects with philanthropic donations, academic course work, marketing and communications and future alumni networks. They will be expected to serve and liaise with all Franke Honors academic programs, which include the Bachelors of Creative Intelligence and Innovation, Future Earth Resilience minor, Health Human & Human Values minor, and the Civic Leadership Certificate. The Principal Strategic Partnerships Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that all partnerships align with university policies and compliance standards, as well as matching internship experiences to programmatic student learning objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Strategic Partnership Development, Engagement, and Management:
    • Be the primary, and sole, contact in developing new external university partnerships (i.e. businesses, high schools, community partners, etc.) that will be involved with Franke academic programs, working directly with the courses, and possibly offer internships and/or scholarships for Franke Honors students.
    • Must continuously develop, manage, and enhance processes to engage industry, community, and government partners in Franke academic programs and student engagement through possible internships or scholarships.
    • Lead recruitment and on-boarding of diverse external partners, ensuring that partnership opportunities are aligned with student learning goals, curricular outcomes, and College strategic plans/priorities.
    • Create and maintain accurate records of external partner interactions and agreements.
    • Strategically map partnership journeys and experiences, and creation of evaluation metrics of the partner experience
    • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key internal/external partners, ensuring consistent and meaningful engagement across multiple programs and managing partner communications.
    • Act as the primary liaison for resolving partner-related concerns and ensuring mutual benefits in all collaborations.
  • Program and project management:
    • Lead the strategic development, implementation, and assessment of work integrated learning courses, including internships for Franke academic programs directly with Franke Honors students that would come from the new partnerships created.
    • Collaborate with faculty directly in the design of programs that integrate professional and academic learning for students, including coordinating the faculty needs with the external partnerships being developed.
    • Liaise with academic staff, internship coordinators, and administrative personnel, to ensure the smooth operation of partnership programs'
    • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote partnership opportunities, internships and events for and with students.
    • Share insights and best practices to enhance the overall effectiveness of partnership initiatives.
  • Strategic contribution and policy development:
    • Provide strategic advice and support to continuously improve the College’s approach to partnership development and program execution.
    • Develop and maintain internal policies for partner engagement, ensuring alignment with university standards and regulations.
    • Work with the College’s development office to develop leads for potential philanthropic donors and alumni relationships.
    • Create Memoranda of Understanding for partners coming onboard into academic courses within Franke academic programs, including navigating intellectual property agreements between the College, partners, and students, and educating students on their intellectual property rights and responsibilities.
    • Ensure compliance with legal, duty of care, and risk management policies for all partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
