The Product Director, Federal Financial Management Programs & Government Audit Training Institute directs a portfolio of workforce training courses that includes Federal Financial Management and Auditing curricula with live and self-paced on-demand delivery. Financial Management includes Accounting, Budgeting, Appropriations Law, Financial Management and Travel Regulations. Audit includes a variety of Government Audit Training Institute courses.
The Product Director is responsible for understanding the government training market and its customers/buyers to make strategic decisions about what courses to build, their content, and how to present them in the market for maximal customer appreciation and portfolio revenue growth. They work with industry subject matter experts, Learning Development experts, Marketing, Sales, and Operations to accomplish those responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities for revenue growth through new training programs, partnerships, or market expansion
- Long-term (1+ year) portfolio planning
- Short-term (3-6 month) portfolio update planning and execution including managing P&L.
- Ensures training products are relevant, current, impactful and valued by customers
- Directs Marketing focus through in-depth target market research and product expertise
- Represents GSUSA at conferences and other customer facing outreach events.
- Partners with Marketing team on the execution of Product Marketing strategy
- Participates as a member of the Product Team to balance Product priorities and budgets across portfolios.
- P&L Responsibilities:
- Analyze and manage the costs associated with curriculum development, training delivery, and division operations.
- Implement cost-saving measures while maintaining the quality of training programs when required.
- Continuously assess the profitability of individual training programs and the division as a whole
- Monitor actual performance against the budget and make adjustments as necessary.
- Manage annual budget, including revenue and expenditure forecasts.
- Supports instructor management by helping to recruit, maintain relationships, and contract for industry expertise with the SME community
- Participates in Business Development efforts by providing industry, product, and customer insights
- Participates with Business Development in partnership with Learning Development to respond to customer course customization requests by finding re-use and re-selling opportunities for derivative products
- Plans annual open enrollment schedule of classes for assigned portfolios
- Develops and revises course descriptions and market materials associated with the unique attributes of each course in the GATI and Financial Management portfolio
- Initiates, directs and monitors course development, revisions and updates
- Other duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to the Vice President of Product and Learning Design. Directly manages 1-3 resources responsible for curriculum management.
Requirements:
- Market Understanding: ability to research, understand and identify market opportunities for assigned curriculums
- Business Cases: develop written business cases analyzing/justifying the likelihood of success.

- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including financial modeling and cost-benefit analysis.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of government regulations, financial standards, and compliance requirements relevant to the training programs.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas, business cases, and strategies to various stakeholders.
- Leadership: Experience in leading and motivating a team of trainers, curriculum developers, and support staff to achieve divisional goals.
- Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and educational technology tools.
- Market Trends Awareness: The ability to stay current with industry trends and adapt training programs accordingly.

- Previous experience working in the public sector or with government agencies.

Required 7-10 years’ relevant practical experience in Federal Financial Management and Government Auditing with practical knowledge of the Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards.
Preferred
- Experience working with Instructors, Subject Matter Experts, Instructional Designers, and other learning/training partners
- Experience with government contracting practices and procurement vehicles.
- Working knowledge of related curriculums (FM, auditing)
- Experience in training management and delivery

Our defined compensation structure is market competitive and is built to reward performance. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role is $112,900.00 to $158,100.00. We take a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including but not limited to: job and level hired into, location, skill set; experience and training; peer compensation and other business and organizational needs. This range is subject to change.
