Lotus Seattle Corp seeks a Program Director/On Air News Anchor to lead and coordinate on-air programming while partnering with management to enhance market share, listeners, ratings, and revenue.

Lotus Seattle Corp in Seattle, Washington is looking for an enthusiastic full-time Program Director/On Air News Anchor. The Program Director oversees aspects of the on-air programing operations for the market inclusive of scheduling, program coordination, coaching on air staff, revenue generation and a customer service approach towards listeners, team members and sales. This is a leadership and operations role. This position plans and schedules the programming material for the news stations. This position partners closely with the General Manager, Consultants, and the Sales team in support of local and corporate business goals to increase market share, listeners, ratings, and revenue.

Objectives of this role:

  • Responsible for leading all aspects of news station on-air experience in a leadership and operations role, responsible for talent, content and programming.
  • Oversee the creation and selection of all on-air, ensuring it aligns with the station's brand and audience preferences.
  • Partner with General Sales Manager and General Manager in support of local and corporate business goals to increase market share, listeners, ratings, adviser satisfaction and revenue while aligning programming fit with client, station, and audience.
  • Review and determine all commercial and paid programming content and schedule programming that conforms with FCC rules and regulations, company policy and applicable laws; protect station license.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Confer with the General Manager and production staff to discuss issues such as production and casting problems, budgets, policies, and news coverage.
  • Coordinate activities between departments, such as news and programming.
  • Plan and schedule programming and event coverage based on broadcast length, time availability, and other factors such as community needs, ratings data, and viewer demographics.
  • Develop promotions for current programs and specials.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in broadcasting news or programming.
  • Evaluate new and existing programming for suitability and in order to assess the need for changes, using information such as audience surveys and feedback.
  • Recruitment, training, supervision, and scheduling of programming personnel.
  • Deliver live, scripted, prerecorded, and breaking news reports.
  • Research news and current events on the local, state, national, and international levels.
  • Comply with journalism ethics and standards, and ensure a professional appearance, manner, and use of language throughout broadcasts.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or related field preferred. All candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a radio or television newsroom.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a major market as a Program Director.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Power Point, Excel and Word) are required
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines
  • Ethical and professional research, writing, and reporting skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Team player who works well both collaboratively and independently

W*orking Conditions and Physical Requirements:*

  • Office environment, some repetitive motion required. May require some travel to station events, valid drivers’ license is required with safe driving record.

Compensation:

  • $130-155K, based upon experience

Pay: $130,000.00 - $155,000.00 per year
