JOB PURPOSE:
The Program Manager will be responsible for planning and coordinating efforts with a large and diverse group of faculty/staff, developing processes and timelines for development activities, assist with program implementation, and course reviews, and advising academic units through the challenges, successes, and everything in between regarding developing new degree programs and certificates. In addition, this role involves providing a cohesive, smooth operational delivery of new degree and certificate programs.
SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:
The Program Manager will report to the Director of Academic Innovation and Strategic Initiatives (OAI), work closely with the Associate Provost of OAI and will provide administrative and programmatic assistance to the Director.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The Program Manager will work collaboratively with administrators, Deans, faculty, and staff both within the department and across the various colleges and schools including, other key teams/units within Howard University.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Program Manager will coordinate and support the operational aspects and day to day oversight of new online and hybrid programs, asynchronous courses, and certificates or credit pathway programs, ensuring that they are in alignment with the mission, goals, and objectives of the University. In this role, the Program Manager will also support and coordinate the University’s Online Program Management (OPM) partnerships.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Leads project management for the new programs/certificates for the OAI team and prioritizes projects to optimize the workflow toward successful program/certificate execution.
Aids in identifying, planning, and scheduling any projected or in demand content areas for online development with Coursera/edX and other learning platforms.
Develops, documents, implements, and evaluates internal processes and procedures. Maintains, revises, and disseminates procedural guides and templates with an eye for accuracy and efficiency.
Monitors the revenue and provides monthly and annual progress reports of new programs/certificates.
Gathers and analyzes programmatic data from administered surveys/reports and communicates them to key stakeholders; Maintains continuity of new program operations by discovering, analyzing/gathering information, determining needs, documenting, and communicating needed actions to leadership.
Plans, organizes, and manages document repository using applications such as Microsoft SharePoint, OneDrive and/or Google Suite applications.
Provides support to the new academic program review and approval process.
Provides support as assigned for strategic initiatives and relationships.
Serves as the point of contact for advocating and working collaboratively with faculty who are interested in developing content on Coursera, edX, and other learning platforms.
Coordinates and assists faculty and subject matter experts with reviews and redesign/refreshing of published content on Coursera, edX, and other learning platforms.
Maintains up-to-date timeline for development activities; Maintains records and statistics for reports.
Assists in developing and facilitating workshops, meetings, and events. Coordinates logistics, scheduling, and participant communications.
Liaison with internal marketing teams as needed to achieve program and certificate goals.
Other duties as assigned by the Associate Provost and Director of Academic Innovation and Strategic Initiatives.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s Degree preferred in appropriate discipline to include Education or related field.
5-7 years of professional work experience in program development/project management preferred
Experience with online educational programs and online learning platforms/systems (i.e, Canvas, Coursera, Edx, etc.).
Strong communicator in written and oral presentation as well as have a strategic mindset.
Excellent problem-solving skills, accountable, and detailed oriented when completing tasks in a timely manner.
Excellent organization and customer service skills when working with a variety of stakeholders.
Be a team player and able to work independently and demonstrate initiative.

Expected Pay Range: $72,727 - $80,000
