Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Social Media, or relevant field preferred; proficiency in Google Workspace and social media platforms, some graphic design experience preferred, excellent written and verbal communication skills, general sports knowledge, ability to multitask and work in fast-paced environments.

Develop and implement member benefits programs, engage participants through social media, manage marketing strategies and communication, support league operations, assist with event planning, and collaborate with PUMP staff on various programs.

PUMP and PSL Overview
The Pittsburgh Sports League (PSL) is a social enterprise housed within the nonprofit PUMP which was founded in 1996. PUMP’s mission is to make Pittsburgh the most dynamic and diverse place by engaging, educating, and mobilizing all young people to effect change in our community. Each year, we serve nearly 30,000 individuals, primarily under the age of 40, through our advocacy, civic, social, and recreational programming.
The PSL is the premier provider of adult, mainly mixed gender, recreational sports leagues in the Pittsburgh region. Founded in the fall of 2000, the PSL started as a flag football league of 150 participants. Today, the PSL provides over 20,000 participants an opportunity to play and socialize making it PUMP’s largest “social networking” program. The PSL runs at least 4 seasons a year (winter, spring, summer, and fall) with up to 15 sports per season.
Position Description
The position of PSL Player Experience Manager is a full-time position with benefits. This position will be tasked with engaging with PSL participants through a variety of ways including program development, social media, and marketing strategies. Additionally, this position is afforded the ability to be creative and innovative when it comes to enhancing the PSL experience whether through new programming or through supporting existing programming. The PSL Player Experience Manager reports directly to the PSL Director and works as part of a team of professionals who serve PSL and PUMP.
Representative Tasks & Major Responsibilities
PSL Program Development and Implementation (50%)
- Member Benefits
- Develop and implement a member benefits program for PSL participants.
- Develop and manage relationships with local partners.
- PUMP Passport
- Assist PUMP Executive Director in developing and implementing programming for the PUMP Passport.
- Communicate PUMP Passport Events with PUMP membership.
- Hometown Hot Spots
- Work with local bars and restaurants to provide exclusive specials, discounts, or experiences for PSL participants/PUMP members.
- Promotion of Hometown Hot Spots to leagues and members each season.
- Corporate Events and Leagues
- Work with PSL Director on the visualization, coordination, planning, logistics, and more for the addition of corporate events and leagues under the PSL program.
Social Media and Marketing (30%)
- Engage PSL participants through the use of PUMP/PSL platforms including but not limited to:
- X
- Create flyers for social media and websites for player engagement and program/event marketing.
- Creation of email marketing and strategies for:
- Monthly PSL Newsletter
- League announcements
- Sponsorship deliverables
- Program and event news
- Develop additional strategies and content for player recruitment and engagement through social media and marketing.
PSL League Support (20%)
- League specific responsibilities as assigned by the PSL Director. Some examples are but not limited to:
- Troubleshooting.
- Distribute t-shirts quarterly.
- Field work including lining fields and assessing if playable.
- Update weather hotline and social media.
- Weekly meeting with PSL Staff to discuss league progress.
- On-call protocols as part of seasonal schedules.
- Assist PSL Staff with planning and implementation of PSL one day tournaments.
- Working with PSL staff on implementation of any new protocols, policies, systems, etc.
- Stay up to date on all league rules and equipment requirements.
General
- Support PUMP staff with any PUMP events as needed.
- Ambassador for PUMP when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Social Media, or relevant field preferred.
- Proficient in Google Workspace. Database and web application knowledge are a plus.
- Proficient with Social Media Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, etc).
- Some graphic design experience is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- General sports knowledge and experience.
- Ability to multitask.
- Detail oriented.
- Creative.
- Ability to work both independently and in teams.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, ever changing, and growing environment.
Requirements
- Full-Time; Flexible schedule with some required evening and weekend hours.
- League participation encouraged.
- Valid driver’s license and dependable vehicle.
- Frequent travel around Pittsburgh.
Salary and Benefits
This position is full-time with a pay range of $20-$25/hour. Benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, parking allowance, travel reimbursement, health and wellness allowance, and waived PSL fees.
