Public Relations Specialist

Wasatch Peaks Credit Union currently operates 6 branches in Weber County, Utah. Our foundation is a unique one, with 3 Credit Unions merging into one. The last merger occurred about 12 years ago, bringing together Weber, Alliance, and SummitOne Credit Unions. The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and managing volunteer and community events & involvement. You will assist with social media support, community programs, and event planning to support the Credit Union's brand. You should have proven skills in both written and verbal communication, design, editing, and problem solving.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of similar or related experience
• At least one of the following is preferred: A Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, or related Degree; or achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate financial education with the Community Involvement Manager, including: Visits to classrooms to support Financial Education teachers; Training employee volunteers on conducting engaging in-person courses; Assist in managing our branded Financial Education decision- based simulation software in 40+ high schools.
• Support the Community Involvement Manager in public relations activities including: School Events (Athletic games, campus event marketing, PTA, and other sponsorships); Community Events (Warm the Soles, Parades, float design & maintenance, 5K/1 Mile Run, Golf Tournament, and more); Support affiliate events throughout the year with various partners after hours and Saturdays.
• Assist with Event Planning including our Annual Meeting, Member Movie Night, Open Houses, Member Appreciation BBQ, and other Credit Union Events.
• Represent the Credit Union; Promote the credit union to employees, volunteers, and the community as well as working with sponsors or community partners to maintain positive relationships.
• Contribute to social media through various platforms as strategically needed.
• Assist with the Credit Union website in writing and updating web content.

Physical Requirements

• Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
• Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and received ordinary information.
• Repetitive Motions: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate office equipment.
• Physical Strength: Exert up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally. Ability to set up and take down tables, equipment, etc. at events.
• Drivers' License with some travel to schools in remote locations required with use of company vehicle.

Schedule
This Full-Time position offers 40 hours per week, with hours normally between 8:30am-5:30pm, Monday-Friday. A few events/year after 5:30 or on Saturdays.
