A. PURPOSE

Is responsible for the execution and documentation of the corporate finished goods quality system, consumer complaint investigation programs, and assistance in providing QA services to a number of clients, principally for the US Quality Programs.

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The duties of this position are those described below. This job description does not state or imply that the

duties listed are the only duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Employees holding this position

will be required to perform any other job-related duties as requested by management.

1. Supplier Program Support:

  • Perform co-packer and ingredient supplier inspections to completion as required. Participate in corporate audits at our internal facilities as assigned.
  • Perform pre-shipment and receiving inspection program and support grading activities and container integrity inspection as required.
  • Assist with annual supplier reviews
  • Assist with maintenance of all supplier and co-packer documentation such as Specifications, HACCP Plans, Allergen Surveys, Third party audit reports and Certificates, Bumble Bee Audits, Continuing Guarantees, Kosher certificates and other Bumble Bee documents as required to support our Bumble Bee manufacturing facilities.
  • Assist with qualification of new suppliers, including documentation collection, review, filing, and inspections as needed. Track progress towards approval.

2. Consumer Affairs [US]:

  • Perform critical consumer and customer complaint investigations (complaints response, product information, reporting);
  • Provide technical support to Consumer Affairs (complaints, information requests).
  • Distribute and file quarterly complaint reports to co-packers. Review responses for acceptability and coordinate communications with co-packers.
  • Assist in responding to FDA CAERS notices.

3. Customer, Marketing, Sales Support: [US]

  • Assist in providing technical information to R&D/Marketing/Procurement/Sales/Customers as requested, and to suppliers/co packers as required.
  • Maintenance of the product label database and ensure packaging artwork on DMS is maintained and kept up to date.
  • Maintenance of specification systems for product specifications and supporting document for product specifications and other documents as appropriate.
  • Assist in new product development by liaising with R&D and/or co-packers and providing support for the preparation and presentation of new product samples. Provide technical support and guidance to support R&D in product development for product samples and commercialization efforts.
  • Participate in Shelf Studies. Lead shelf-life testing when needed for existing products, including preparing and distributing reports of results.
  • Assist with completion QA checklists, resolve issues identified, coordinating with QA reps and other BB/CLS reps, documentation completed as per appropriate QP’s.
  • Provide technical liaison with customer’s technical departments, including processing plant inspections by buyers. Respond to buyers’ technical inquiries.
  • Maintain customer databases & websites.
  • Assist with coordinating certificates of analysis and conformance for customer and regulatory needs

4. Maintain Quality Policies on areas of responsibility

5. Quarantine /Traceability [US]

  • Execute and maintain product holds/ release programs.
  • Provide traceability & recall support:
  • Perform trace and holds/release recall related activities.
  • RFR and GS1 postings.
  • Perform Recall audits for all CBIF Facilities bi-annually.

6. Assists in providing the necessary training to department and functional units with what is needed to deliver high levels of quality and customer satisfaction.

7. Perform other duties as requested.

C. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in food technology or food science preferred or related field.
  • Experience: At least 3-5 years’ experience in related field. Knowledge of Seafood HACCP, retort technology, canning technology, can defects and regulatory requirements; product experience.
  • Skills: Evaluating processing safety and sanitation standards of food processing operations; product grading. Auditing skills with experience in leading internal audits and second party supplier/co-packer audits
  • Knowledge of SAP.
  • Travel Required: up to 15%

The compensation for this role includes base salary and eligibility for an annual bonus based on company performance. All incentive plans are subject to change.

The pay range for this role is $65,000 – $80,000 annually. *Compensation will match the level of knowledge, education, skills, and experience applicable to the position.
