What Were Looking For

We are seeking a Queens & Brooklyn Regional Program Manager to oversee a portfolio of 1015 school sites in Queens and Brooklyn during the school year and lead a Brooklyn-based summer camp serving 100150+ children. The start date for this role would be March 3, 2025.

This is a critical role within our organization as we expand our reach into more neighborhoods in the outer boroughs. We need a dynamic leader who can easily commute between sites to provide training, conduct observations, meet with school administration, and deliver on-site support for staff. This is a full-time, overtime-exempt role based in New York City and requires in-person work. Program Managers should expect to split their time between office work & meetings, site visits, site supervision, and other administrative tasks.

As part of the Program Management team, the Regional Program Manager will play a key role in ensuring the success of our youth programs, which include recess and physical education classes, sports and enrichment activities, after-school programs, and summer camps across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Reporting to one of two Program Directors, you will collaborate with a team of Program Managers and Program Coordinators to provide staff training and supervision, program design and scheduling support, parent communication and engagement initiatives, and deliver high-quality programs across New York City.

This role requires a hands-on leader with exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills who thrives in diverse communities and a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has prior experience as a Camp Director for a day camp or residential camp for 2+ seasons, along with 3+ years of experience in multi-site management in youth development and education-based settings.

Regional Program Manager Responsibilities (September - June)

School Year Schedule: As the Queens & Brooklyn Regional Program Manager, youll oversee recess, PE, and after-school programs in schools across Queens and Brooklyn. Site locations in Queens include: Jamaica, Rego Park, Maspeth, Flushing. Site locations in Brooklyn include: East New York, Bed Stuy, Crown Heights, Sunset Park, Clinton Hill. During the school year, Program Managers work Monday - Friday, 9 am - 6 pm. Evening and weekend work may be required on occasion to oversee programs, special events, and staff training.

  • Oversee a portfolio of 10-15+ recess, PE & sports classes, and after school programs in Queens and Brooklyn
  • Provide scheduled and emergency coverage for coach absences at recess, PE, and sports classes
  • Provide scheduled and emergency coverage for Site Coordinator absences at after-school programs
  • Travel regularly between schools in Queens and Brooklyn to ensure high program standards and provide hands-on support
  • Act as a key point of contact for school administrators, ensuring program quality and maintaining strong relationships
  • Provide direct support to 30-40 part-time coaches through site visits, training, performance evaluations, and regular check-ins
  • Collaborate with leadership to design and refine programming based on school needs, community input, and industry trends
  • Identify opportunities for program expansion or improvement within existing school partnerships
  • Manage program operations, including scheduling, curriculum implementation, and staff deployment
  • Host workshops, team-building events, and professional development sessions for part-time staff
  • Oversee performance management for 30+ part-time coaches and 3-5 full-time team members

Camp Director Responsibilities (JulyAugust)

Summer Camp Schedule: From July to August, youll step into the role of Camp Director, leading a dynamic Brooklyn-based summer camp at locations such as Park Slope, Greenpoint, or Fort Greene. Pre-summer preparations will occur during regular work hours from January - June. During the summer camp season, Camp Directors work from Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 5:30 pm (summer camp hours).

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of a Brooklyn-based summer camp (Park Slope, Greenpoint, Fort Greene) with 80130+ campers and 2535+ staff members
  • Lead staff training and onboarding, ensuring alignment with our mission and values
  • Implement dynamic weekly schedules, including sports, arts, STEM, field trips, and special events
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, campers, and staff, handling concerns and fostering a positive camp culture
  • Maintain compliance with safety and operational standards, including attendance tracking, health documentation, and emergency procedures
  • Conduct staff evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to promote growth and development
  • Implement surveying methods to assess program impact and parent satisfaction
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth operations, enrollment, and marketing efforts

Total Compensation:

  • Annual base salary in the range of $68,000 - $73,000
    • Candidates will be eligible for the higher end of the salary range if they have prior experience in a role with an equivalent scope of work
  • Semi-annual bonuses of $1,500 - $3,000 pending company performance
  • Annual performance-based salary raises of 3-6% pending individual performance

  • Proficiency in G Suite, Asana, and other digital tools for communication, project management, and program administration.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with families from diverse backgrounds, including non-English-speaking customers (Spanish proficiency is highly desirable).
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed to supervise sports programs, train staff, and conduct site observations.
