Summary

LOCATION

Fort Buchanan Sports and Fitness Center, with operational hours from 0445 to 2115, Monday to Friday, including weekends and holidays as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Directly related work experience managing fitness facilities, front desk skills including customer service and proficiency in MS Office, and certification as a Basic Fitness Trainer is highly preferred. Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED is required within six months of employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the Facility Manager in managing the fitness facility, conduct classes, maintain cleanliness and minor repairs of equipment, promote programs and events, and perform additional duties as assigned.

SHORT DESCRIPTION

Support the overall operation and management of a fitness facility, assist patrons, maintain equipment, and contribute to marketing efforts.

Duties

  • Assists Facility Manager in the overall management and operation of a fitness facility.
  • Conducts classes and walks all facility rooms to provide guidance or referral as appropriate.
  • Cleans and performs minor maintenance on facility equipment.
  • Assists with publicity of programs and events assists with marketing of posters, flyers and other promotional material.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.

  • Obtain within 6 months of employment and maintain certification: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
  • Obtain within 6 months of employment and maintain certification: MWR Orientation Course; Customer Service; Equipment (Safe Operation and Basic Maintenance Repair).
  • This position is located at the Fort Buchanan Sports and Fitness Center. Hours of operation may be from 0445 to 2115, Monday to Friday, weekends and holidays. Schedule will be determined by mission needs.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:

Possesses directly related work experience that includes the demonstrated ability to operate multiple fitness facilities. The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.

HIGHLY PREFERRED Are those candidates that possess both the minimum qualifications above and all of the following:
  • Possession of a Nationally Recognized Basic Fitness Trainer Certification
  • Possess directly related work experience operating multiple facilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Possess front desk skills such as customer service and registration, administrative work, proficiency in MS Office Suite, multitasking and organization skills
  • Possess cashier skills to include but not limited to familiarity with cash desk equipment (Point-Of-Sale [POS]), scanners and cash drawers, accuracy in counting and handling money

PCS Costs

Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
