PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:

Identifies, engages, cultivates, solicits, and stewards current and prospective donors in expanding their financial support of the work of the Folds of Honor. Responsible for meeting an annual revenue target by working with an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects to advance the mission of the organization and assist donors in creating meaning in their lives through giving to the Folds of Honor.

  • Develops ongoing relationships with major donors for the benefit of the Folds of Honor.
  • Manages a portfolio of donors and prospects.
  • Responsible for minimum annual fundraising goal as specified in performance standards, including both renewable and new gifts.
  • Implements programs/activities to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors at the $2,500 level or higher, with an emphasis on maximizing revenue for Folds of Honor.
  • Accountable for cultivating relationships for individual fundraising, organizational fundraising or both as outlined below:
    • Individuals: Cultivates relationships with individual donors personally and by supporting volunteer leaders in regions
    • Organizations: Cultivates, solicits, and stewards support from corporations and foundations to meet annual fundraising goals within their Regions. This includes assisting corporations in achieving their goals in strengthening their brand, marketing, and employee engagement by being proficient at clearly articulating Folds of Honor campaigns, listening to corporations needs and aligning campaigns to their interests, researching of foundations interests, preparing grant proposals, and engaging foundation staff and foundation board members to cultivate and solicit support for Folds of Honor
  • Develops and executes ongoing strategy for qualifying suspects and moving them to prospect status using tools such as small cultivation events, research, and community networking.
  • Personally, solicits assigned donor portfolio, including preparation of personalized materials when needed.
  • Identifies potential planned giving prospects.
  • Works with chapter Board members and other leadership volunteers to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward appropriate donors.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments and partners with development staff to create customized solicitation strategies matching the objectives of the organization and interests of the donor/prospect.
  • All other duties as assigned.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Bachelors Degree in a related field required and 3 years of experience in fundraising and/or sales; PLUS the following job-related experience:

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to establish and implement systems and identify resources to ensure the successful completion of projects.

  • Thinks proactively, takes initiative and sees tasks through to completion with appropriate follow-up.
  • Sound judgment and discretion in handling and securing confidential information. Conducts oneself in a highly professional manner.
  • Develops strong working relationships and facilitates communication between internal staff and/or external constituents.
  • Flexibility to work as part of a team or independently to meet goals in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Self-directed to take action and resolve issues.
  • Understands organizational structure and works through administrative systems. Asks questions to facilitate work being completed.
  • Makes appropriate decisions or choices based on understanding alternative courses of action and potential repercussions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mobility to travel in and around office surroundings; ability to travel in and out of state.
  • Mobility to use hands and reach with arms.
  • Able to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly.

COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
