SHORT DESCRIPTION

The Regional Director of Sales is responsible for driving membership growth in a designated region by leading a high-performing sales team, developing relationships, and executing effective sales strategies within the healthcare industry.

Regional Director, Sales leads membership growth and sales production for a designated sales region. The incumbent will be responsible for managing and coaching a team of sales leaders and sales professionals to achieve and/or exceed monthly and annual growth goals. In this role, they develop relationships with key stakeholders in a region, including health insurance sales leaders, FMOs, and key community organizations.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises a team of sales leaders to ensure sales goals are met or exceeded. Provides reliable, efficient support for the team.
  • Leads all aspects of leading the team including, but not limited to, selection, onboarding, performance management, and engagement.
  • Manages, coaches, and provides training to sales leaders, with the goal of developing a high performing sales team.
  • Monitors performance of sales team performance on daily, weekly and monthly basis. Provides monthly and quarterly results assessments of sales staff’s productivity.
  • Leads and facilitates team meetings and training. Trains and develops sales leaders and sales professionals in the areas of new account sales and growth, sales of emerging services and multi-service sales, profitability, improved presentation strategies, competitive strategies, proper use and level of sales support, management of expenses and business & financial issues on contracts.
  • Builds relationships with various sales channels through contracted health insurance sales leaders and brokers to ensure active pipeline of active leads.
  • Collaborates with the sales leaders in the region to develop integrated sales strategies that drive membership growth.
  • Monitors and measures sales strategy effectiveness. Develops and executes process improvements where needed with collaboration of National Sales leadership.
  • Forecasts annual, quarterly and monthly revenue streams. Provides quarterly results assessments of sales staff’s productivity.
  • Develops and presents growth strategies to regional leaders and national sales team. Ensures alignment of sales strategy and overall business strategy with operational and clinical leaders.
  • Collaborates with operational leaders to ensure new patients are correctly assigned to centers, balancing PCP capacity, distance, patient preference, etc.
  • Assists sales leaders and sales professionals in establishing personal contact and rapport with key local communities serving Medicare-eligible seniors.
  • Builds, develops and promotes strong long-lasting broker and agent relationships.
  • Develops sales budget for the Regions, in coordination with national sales leadership and operational leaders.
  • Communicates the value proposition through proposals and presentations.
  • Performs all job duties and responsibilities assigned to the Manager, Sales, as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and experience in leading a sales team. Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Expert knowledge in setting up new markets and new sales channels.
  • Extensive experience in sales and relationship sales experience.
  • Ability to use Salesforce.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with health insurance sales leaders, FMOs, and key community organizations.
  • Strong problem solving, time management, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to present data and analysis to a variety of stakeholders. Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, database, and presentation software.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, both inside and outside of the company.
  • High level of integrity, dependability, and reliability.
  • Ability to manage change and align with our mission.
  • Ability to travel, local, regionally and nationwide up to 75% of the time.
  • Spoken and written fluency in English; bilingual preferred.
  • This job requires use and exercise of independent judgment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:

  • BA/BS degree required; MA/MS degree preferred OR additional experience above the minimum may be considered in lieu of the required education on a year-for-year basis
  • A minimum of 9 years of sales experience required; a minimum of 4 years in a supervisory/managerial role leading a sales team of direct reports required; a minimum of 4 years using contact relationship management tools.
  • Direct-to-patient sales and marketing experience preferred.
  • Experience within the Medicare Advantage population strongly preferred. Experience working for a large, health insurance sales team or Medicare Sales Direct Marketing Organizations (field or telesales) preferred.
  • Experience managing local marketing events. Direct Marketing Organizations experience preferred; Health Plan provider group experience preferred.
  • This position requires possession and maintenance of a current, valid drives license.
