The Resident Services and Programs Coordinator is responsible for creating engaging programs that foster community spirit within the independent living community through effective planning and communication.
Position Overview:
The Resident Services and Programs Coordinator is responsible for planning and communicating programs within the independent living community. Our calendar is filled with lectures, musical performances, movies, documentaries, fitness classes, games, book clubs, life-long learning classes, recreational activities and more. Trips to the orchestra, museums, cultural events, historical sites, and other local attractions help to round out the offerings.
This role plays a key part in fostering a sense of community through engaging events, effective communication, and coordination with resident committees. This position will also provide logistical support for events and contribute to creating a positive and stimulating environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and implement resident activities and programs that promote engagement, well-being, and a sense of community.
- Host and attend programs and events to ensure proper setup, including audio-visual, lighting, and sound systems, as well as meeting the needs of presenters and residents.
- Prepare and distribute communication materials, including the monthly activity calendar, fliers, posters, and weekly newsletter to keep residents informed.
- Maintain the In-House TV Slide Show to showcase upcoming activities and important information.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator to ensure timely updates and accurate information is posted on the WaverlyApp.
- Keep the resident bulletin boards organized and up to date with current information.
- Maintain organized files and storage areas for resident activities materials and supplies.
- Schedule and manage the use of shared community spaces, such as the Auditorium, Theater, Lounge and Club Room.
- Ensure pianos are well-maintained and schedule regular tunings.
- Maintain regular communication with department directors and managers to ensure successful interdepartmental projects and activities.
- Actively participate in meetings, committees, and special projects to support the overall success of the community.
- Demonstrate teamwork and a positive attitude by cooperating with fellow staff, supervisors, and departments.
- Establish and maintain positive, respectful communication with residents, their families, and guests.
- Address resident inquiries and feedback in a timely and professional manner, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment.
- Prepare and submit activities reports as requested by supervisors.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and resident communications and records in accordance with organizational policies.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in program coordination, event planning, or a similar role in a residential or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to create engaging and informative materials.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with AV and sound systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate, resident-centered approach with a commitment to fostering community spirit.
