Summary of Position The Restaurant Manager is responsible for all aspects of restaurant operations and management, including food, beverage, equipment, financials, and facilities. This role involves managing and leading team members to deliver the highest possible level of customer service. The Restaurant Manager works closely with the owners to establish financial goals and organizational policies that ensure financial stability and achievement of organizational objectives. Additionally, the Restaurant Manager helps the General Manager with daily operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Team Management: Recruit, hire, train, and schedule staff. Develop team skills through training, coaching, and leadership to maximize individual strengths and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Human Resources: Manage HR processes and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and laws.
- Compliance: Ensure all alcoholic beverage services comply with legal requirements and verify that all servers and staff are properly trained.
- Employee Relations: Foster positive employee relations through effective delegation, high staff morale, and a supportive work environment.
- Risk Management: Oversee loss prevention and risk management, including managing insurance policies.
- Financial Oversight: Collaborate with owners to review financial reports, develop plans to increase revenue, and control expenses to meet financial goals.
- Customer Service: Develop and implement customer service policies to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Vendor Relationships: Manage vendor relationships to maintain high-quality standards in services and products.
- Marketing: Develop and manage public relations, marketing, and advertising programs to promote the organization and increase sales.
- Facility Maintenance: Ensure the restaurant is properly maintained to create a safe and comfortable environment for staff and customers.
- Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring customer service, operational efficiency, and profitability.
- Promotions: Manage restaurant marketing and promotions to increase community awareness and revenue.
- POS System: Operate the POS system accurately and maintain its functionality.
Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements
- Proven customer service and interpersonal skills for working with diverse groups of customers, vendors, and employees.
- Strong leadership and management skills to develop an effective team.
- Fundamental business management experience, including financial management and organizational development.
- Facilities management experience in food services, entertainment, recreation, or retail industries.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and online applications.
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
- Effective communication skills in the predominant language(s) of customers and staff.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in recreational, entertainment, retail, hospitality, or food services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Physical requirements: Ability to stand for long periods (over 8 hours), reach, bend, stoop, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
