Sales and Marketing Director
Spees Design Build (SDB) is seeking a full-time Sales and Marketing Director to join our team in Kent, WA.
The Sales and Marketing Director will lead our marketing, proposal, and business development efforts. This role will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to enhance company visibility, expand opportunities, and strengthen client relationships nationwide.
SDB is an award-winning design-build firm specializing in architecture, engineering, and project management consulting services. We are a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business with offices in the Pacific Northwest and in the Southeast. Remote work is also an option for certain roles. What You'll Be Doing:
- Develop and manage a multiyear, multi-million-dollar design pipeline.
- Define and execute long-term business and marketing strategies.
- Direct marketing campaigns to establish and cultivate long-term relationships with key client groups. Seeking opportunities to strengthen client relationships.
- Identify potential clients within area of specialty and develop sales/marketing strategy. Understand and respond to potential clients’ needs and objectives and drive value-added partnership model to build customer rapport.
- Develop annual plans for the department, identifying strengths and weaknesses and priorities for continuous improvement of marketing/business development programs with an emphasis on the proposal management processes and training, and collaborate with HR to identify skill gaps.
- Develop quarterly and annual marketing plan and budgets, working with leadership team for guidance.
- Keep abreast of national political and economic conditions that could affect the strategies and market development efforts.
- Develop analytics and reports with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to show continued successes.
- Lead marketing and proposal efforts providing direction to staff on the development, scheduling, staffing, teaming, coordination, and final production and submission of proposals.
- Provide quality control during the preparation and review of proposal materials to include editing and proof reading.
- Leverage connections, SMPS, SAME, and other industry organizations to enhance visibility.
- Participate in organizations, industry associations, attend events to create brand visibility.
- Developing marketing concepts and leading customer engagement plans at relevant conferences, expos, and symposiums.
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Strong leadership and management skills to oversee the marketing department and effectively communicate with Executive Leadership Team.
- Superior oral and written communications skills.
- Strong understanding of federal A/E proposals and requirements.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant proposal management experience, which must include experience in federal contracting.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the federal RFP/RFQ process from kickoff through review stages, production, and delivery.
- Experience overseeing the development of presentations and marketing collateral materials.
- Experience completing SF 330s, SF 254s and SF 255s.
- Detail-oriented with proficiency in writing, and editing with excellent proofreading skills.
- Proficiency in InDesign is preferred, Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop, and Visio skills required.
- Competence with Salesforce is preferred.
- Competence with SAM.gov, and FPDS.gov is preferred.
- Competence in researching and analyzing data for strategic opportunities.
- Comfortable leading a fast-paced, deadline-driven team as well as managing multiple projects and delegating tasks.
- Good eye for design and composition, and strong graphics skills for presentations and proposals are required.
- Superior prioritization and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
