Dynamic Sales and Marketing Manager needed to develop and execute strategies that drive revenue growth and expand customer base within academic and retail markets.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Sales and Marketing Manager to join our team and play a crucial role in developing and executing strategic sales and marketing initiatives to drive revenue growth, and expand our customer base within the academic and retail markets. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years experience in publishing sales and marketing, is extremely organized with communication and projects, and is an ERP system and project management portal user who will work with corporate partners, buyers, and external sales reps to orchestrate plans and manage the marketing collateral calendar. Being a listener ready to learn from and grow with a 33 year old family business is crucial to facilitate strategic goals along with flexibility and creativity to navigate transitions within the ever-changing publishing business model.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Development & Management:
- Identify new business opportunities by researching and analyzing publishing industry market trends, book publishers’ activities, and customer needs for content in academic and retail spaces.
- Manage and execute existing sales strategies and develop new strategies evaluating company sales targets within a planned budget.
- Build and maintain relationships with key customers and partners working with outside sales representatives to optimize penetration and product placement.
- Generate leads through cold calls, networking, events, industry conferences, research, referrals, distributing product information, writing proposals, and visiting current and potential customers. Receives and follows up on sales leads from all lead sources.
- Prepare for sales calls by conducting research and creating or assembling sales materials. Research customers’ business strategies, financial situation, market conditions and competition. Create presentations and other sales materials targeting customers’ potential success by demonstrating our product’s success.
- Write proposals, negotiate contracts and close deals, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
- Maintain, track and report on customer information, sales activities and projected revenue using reporting from MS Business Central.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of products through ongoing personal development activities such as studying product, evaluating customer product reviews, store visits, and research.
- Marketing Strategy & Execution:
- Collaborate with marketing to develop and implement B2B marketing campaigns that promote our products within approved discount structures.
- Oversee calendar for production and timing of promotional materials, including brochures, catalogs, and other print and digital assets.
- Coordinate trade shows, conferences, and other events to promote brand awareness and foster client engagement.
- Monitor and analyze B2B marketing campaign performance and provide insights for optimization.
- Client & Market Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for existing and prospective clients, ensuring timely and professional communication.
- Track leads, prospects, and sales activities.
- Market Research & Reporting:
- Conduct market research to identify potential new market segments and opportunities for growth.
- Prepare reports on sales performance, campaign success, and market trends for senior management.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest publishing industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in sales, marketing, or business development within the publishing industry.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of sales and marketing principles, strategies, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in digital Email marketing software like Mailchimp.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and lead management processes.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of the publishing industry, including print and digital media, authorship, and distribution channels.
- Experience in using Adobe Creative Suite for marketing material design (not mandatory but a plus).
- Familiarity with SEO and content marketing strategies.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
