We are searching for a Senior Analyst with a strong analytical skillset to join the Pricing & Strategy team to drive pricing initiatives, profitability management, support capital markets activities and other high impact projects on lending and deposit products during a pivotal time in our business. This role will include involvement in capital markets-related responsibilities and is multi-faceted, requiring someone who is highly motivated and willing to go above and beyond to take a project from start to finish.
Essential Functions:
  • Assist with pricing strategy development, maintenance, and implementation for lending and deposit products such as student loan, personal loan, savings, and checking
  • Conduct profitability analyses to optimize pricing structure and estimate returns
  • Create dynamic excel models to run scenario analyses to inform pricing decisions and other top-of-house business priorities
  • Serve as the lead contact for the business on product pricing and the interest rate environment holistically; have a firm understanding of competitor pricing, application dispersion, conversion, rate distribution, and other KPIs; Summarize complex analysis into a digestible format to present to other teammates or senior leadership
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing and Product to drive top of house goals and enhance overall member experience
  • Assist with capital markets related activities such as loan sales/purchases, securitizations, and investor inquiries
  • Identify ways to improve risk management across pricing and capital markets activities; work closely with Risk/Compliance partners to ensure that appropriate controls are in place and solutions are documented for potential risk
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management
  • Leverage SAS to pull data as needed for ad hoc analyses
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years in financial services, banking, or fintech (prior investment banking, management consulting, corporate finance, corporate treasury and/or pricing experience preferred)
  • Understanding of how installment loans work and mortgage-style amortization. Experience with deposit products is a plus!
  • Strong analytical mindset, data driven decisioning and insights
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with little oversight
  • Creative and solution-oriented problem solver with a strong customer focus
  • Intermediate to advanced use of Microsoft Excel required; must be comfortable navigating big datasets across sheets/files and consolidating data into summary tables
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience or exposure to capital markets activity is preferred but not required
  • Experience with SAS or SQL preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Analytical Skillset: Is comfortable scrubbing data and creating summary tables in a digestible manner; ability to build dynamic excel models using appropriate assumptions; enjoys using data to tell a story
  • Financial Literacy: Understanding of how mortgage-style payments and installment loans work; strong foundational knowledge of basic financial concepts, components of profit-and-loss statements, risk/reward principals, etc.
  • Risk Management Focus: Proactively identify controls that may not be in place today for potential risks; find ways to improve risk management processes across pricing and capital markets activities
  • Problem Solver: Can think through complex problems and create a plan to identify root causes, remediate the issue, and prevent the issue from becoming a recurring problem; able to approach situations from different points of view to anticipate future problems
  • Attention to Detail: Navigates and creates excel models with minimal errors; follows detailed procedures for pricing related activity to adhere to risk/compliance requirements
  • Initiative: Proactively seeks out and assesses opportunities that will further the Laurel Road mission; originates action rather than only responding to suggestions and direction from others
  • Time Management/Priority Setting: Uses time effectively and efficiently; achieve high quality results in a fast-paced, deadline driven, competing priority environment
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $90,000 to $100,000 annually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
