We are seeking a Senior Communications and Engagement Specialist to enhance CCOB's online presence through effective website and content management, while developing and executing communication strategies to engage and inform the community.

The Communications and Engagement Department is hiring a Senior Communications and Engagement Specialist whose role will focus on website management and digital marketing. This position will be responsible for website and web content management for the CCOB public-facing website (CivicPlus CMS) and internal employee web kportal, with a desire to write, design and produce top-notch content that informs, inspires and engages. As part of the Communications and Engagement team, this position will also develop and manage the execution of a broad-range of communication and engagement strategies to effectively educate, inform and build relationships with audiences.
A typical day as the Senior Communications and Engagement Specialist would include:
70% website management
- 15% internal customer support
- 10% project management support
- 5% administrative
The ideal candidate for this role would be (or will possess):
Tech-savvy with a lot of experience in web management platforms and content tools. Experience with the CivicPlus platform is strongly preferred
A wordsmith with an eye for design and a love of storytelling
Unflappable under pressure and capable of switching gears faster than you can say "responsive design"
Attention to detail, like Bob Ross who paints not just the forest but also the “happy little trees.”
Ability to train and teach the CMS and CCOB guidelines for the website contributors
A collaborative team player who loves sharing ideas as much as making them happen
Passionate about making information easy to find, fun to read and impossible to ignore.
Salary Range: $71,822 - $97,156
6% employer retirement match

The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. After-hours (weekends and evenings) for public hearings, volunteer and team-lead events are possible.

Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties

Website Management: Develop and maintain website content for all CCOB departments on both the public-facing website and internal employee web portal.- Maintenance and monitoring of both internet and intranet content management systems. This includes being up-to-date on all new releases of the CivicPlus CMS and understanding whether these new offerings may be beneficial to CCOB operations.
- Develop, maintain and audit website content with attention to detail, ensuring quality through regular testing and alignment with organizational strategy.
- Possess meticulous attention to detail and outstanding problem-solving skills, content creation and writing skills to be able to consistently develop and maintain website content, security audits and improving the user experience.
- Conduct regular content audits to eliminate redundant and/or duplicate information.
- Create appropriate website content aligned with the organization’s strategy.
- Ensure website quality and efficiency by conducting regular test plans.
- Responsible for keeping up with all accessibility best practices and guidelines to keep all websites and associated content in compliance with national, state and local laws.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with web representatives, providing training and support for accurate content maintenance.
- Advise on incoming project requests related to websites and digital platforms to help determine course of action to achieve the best outcome for the partner and community.
- Assists with the development and execution of the City and County of Broomfield’s (CCOB) communication, marketing and engagement goals and strategies for programs, services and events using platforms such as the public-facing website and internal employee web portal, social media channels, email marketing efforts, and website facilitation, graphic design support.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, monitor competitor websites for applicable trends and ideas, and ensure SEO standards.
- Develop and implement program evaluation tools, especially those that would impact the organization’s websites, collect and analyze data on public engagement and marketing campaigns.
- Inventory and analyze incoming project requests to set goals and timelines, recommend actions and manage expectations throughout a project’s lifecycle.
Represent CCOB and the Communications and Engagement team at meetings of elected officials, committees, directors, departments and the community.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university - required in marketing, communications, advertising, public relations, graphic design or related field
EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years experience required in website design and management, marketing, public relations, communications, and graphic design, and demonstrated understanding of marketing campaign creation and implementation.
- For the Digital Marketing role, experience with website development and/or maintenance and using a content management system - required
Preference will be given to those with extensive experience in website development, design, management, and maintenance, specifically in CivicPlus.
Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.

About the Communications and Engagement Department
Communications and Engagement utilizes collaboration and partnerships to achieve accountable and open communications, while applying curiosity and innovation to a mindful approach to engagement.
The C&E team serves a few different roles within the organization.
- We plan, formulate and execute communications campaigns for community and organizational priorities. This means we create and execute proactive and strategic communications for the topics that matter most to the community.
- We work with our internal partners to plan, formulate and execute communications campaigns about topics employees need to know about. This ranges from internal topics such as HR programs like benefits, employee engagement and policies to new programs and platforms being instituted by the IT department and more.
- We consult with other departments to provide input on communications and engagement strategies or tactics to be executed by the department or a third party like a contractor. We also provide expertise in the areas of the website, social media and other digital marketing tools such as Google.
We are the product owners for the communications and engagement tools used within the City and County including Broomfield.org (CivicPlus), BroomfieldVoice (EngageHQ), BintheLoop (Constant Contact), Social Media, digital signage in facilities (REACH), VolunteerHub, and Channel 8. We apply user experience analysis and best practices to improve the quality and reach of these platforms to ultimately improve all communications from the City and County of Broomfield to Broomfield residents.
