Cox Automotive is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist to support internal and external communications efforts, enhance media coverage, and drive employee engagement through effective communication strategies.

This is a 6-month W2 contract assignment with the opportunity for contract extension or to transition to a permanent, full-time role based on performance and business needs.
- Assist in developing, writing, editing, and pitching B2B and B2C press materials for media coverage of our retail brands.
- Partner with the B2C communications lead to provide feedback on influencer concepts, creative and programming.
- Coordinate, produce, and distribute monthly electronic newsletter communications and “Continuing the Coversation” monthly series.
- Assist with ad hoc e-mail messages and communication plans for employees as needed.
- Manage and write intranet content to support business priorities and drive team member engagement. Proficiency in SharePoint intranets and file management is a must.
- Obtain knowledge of products and services; proactively work with internal partners to determine what’s relevant to various internal and external audiences.
- Monitor, measure, and report on the effectiveness of internal and external communication channels.
- Maintain accuracy of internal and external editorial calendars, departmental calendar of events, and department weekly status reports.
- Maintain mailing lists and manage internal email distributions via email marketing program (Email Open).
- Assist with meeting and event coordination.
- Assist with preparation of confidential and sensitive information for use by management; draft/prepare reports, correspondence, and presentations.
- Work independently and within a team on special non-recurring and ongoing projects. Serve as the project coordinator for special projects and events.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in corporate communications, preferably within automotive, media, technology, or communications industries.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (writing, editing, proofreading, interviewing skills).
- Ability to multi-task and keep numerous projects on track and on budget.
- Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Power Point and Excel) and SharePoint is required; knowledge and experience with external email clients (Email Open) is preferred.
- Video and photo editing experience is preferred.
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills; detail oriented.
- High level of communication skills with experience in interacting with all levels of management and employees, and with external media and clients.
- Ability to prioritize work independently.
- Professional appearance, telephone and communication style is essential.
