Seeking a Senior Development Director to lead fundraising strategies and infrastructure for Share Ourselves, enhancing donor engagement and expanding services to the Orange County community.

Share Ourselves is a healthcare organization that provides comprehensive health and support services for the Orange County community. We currently operate six healthcare sites in Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, Mission Viejo, Anaheim and Newport Beach.

About the Senior Development Director Position

Share Ourselves is seeking a mission-focused, results-oriented Senior development professional to work as a strategic partner and high-performing member of the Share Ourselves Leadership team.

The Senior Development Director fosters a culture of philanthropy within the organization, leading staff, board members, and donors to institutionalize philanthropy and fundraising best practices.

As Share Ourselves embarks on an exciting phase of expansion and new fundraising initiatives, this Senior role is an exciting opportunity to build and lead the organization into its next generation of service to the Orange County community.

The Senior Development Director is responsible for creating, leading, and expanding the organization’s funding strategies and infrastructure to meet current and future organizational needs. The Senior Development Director drives the organization towards overall annual and long-term outcomes, including leading the development of an engaged donor base; increasing donor retention; visibility and advocacy among new donor communities; and the stewardship of giving programs at various levels, including annual fund, major gifts, legacy and corporate giving. The Senior Development Director maintains accountability and compliance standards for all donors and funding sources.

The Senior Development Director will collaborate with team members cross departmentally and manage a growing department, comprised of : 1) The Development team and 2) The Marketing and Communication Team.

The Senior Development Director will provide leadership support, engagement, and support to our Development Committee meetings.

Performance in this position is measured by successfully meeting annual fundraising goals and sustaining a productive, energetic group of team members, major donors and community volunteers/donors to move the organization forward.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising, Strategy Development, and Team Management:

· Plan, manage, and implement all aspects of the organizations fundraising efforts; oversee the solicitation and acknowledgement process, maintenance of records, and establishment and disclosure within IRS guidelines of donor benefits; monitor progress and make adjustments, as needed.

· Lead development of annual strategies and messaging refinement for case statements for support.

· Develop and direct year-round strategies to cultivate new prospects and seek out new funding opportunities.

· Oversee and advance moves management system for major gift donors and key prospects.

· Cultivate and steward relationships in partnership with CEO, including the management of the CEO’s donor portfolio, ensuring all donors receive necessary and appropriate touchpoints.

· Work closely with the CEO and Marketing department to create and integrate key institutional messaging in all materials used to support organization’s fundraising events and annual solicitations. The Marketing department will work with the Development team to design and create all major collateral pieces.

· Recommend leading fundraising policies and procedures to the CEO with the goal of maintaining an overall development plan that demonstrates the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct.

· Lead community volunteers to work with staff on planning all fundraising and cultivation events; oversee staff’s execution of each event, including our 2 major fundraising events.

· Work with CEO and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on implementation of legacy giving program and recognition society; work with Foundation team to cultivate and solicit legacy/planned gifts.

· Recruit/Hire, train, manage, and evaluate the performance of all development team members and may also include contract/consultants, interns, and volunteers.

· Provide vital input in short- and long-term strategic and operational planning and positioning within the organization.

· Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Volunteer and Relationship Management:

· Organize and manage team members and volunteers to carry out all fundraising campaigns and events; evaluate effectiveness of each strategy.

· Set priorities for team members, committee and volunteers in order to implement plans, gauge results, and determine future courses of action.

· Maintain ongoing contact with individual supporters, foundations (in partnership with the Grants Manager), corporate sponsors, business and community leaders.

· Attend other civic and cultural events in the community; represent the organization by speaking at public events as requested.

· Design fundraising educational programs in fund development for staff, Board, and volunteers; participates as teacher and facilitator. Continue to pursue formal and informal education for self and Development team.

· In partnership with the CEO, develop Commiittee and volunteer leadership through participation in various committee meetings and ongoing donor cultivation efforts.

This position will be required to attend events and meetings in the community to support the program. This can involve working Saturdays or Sundays, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

· A Bachelor’s degree in business, philanthropy, marketing and communications, or related field required

· 8+ years of progressive senior leadership experience in professional fundraising/fund development, donor cultivation and stewardship; experience managing development and marketing.

· Demonstrated success in developing and implementing comprehensive and successful annual campaigns and major gift programs. Experience with capital campaigns and planned giving programs is preferred.

· Mission driven; business minded; Passion for social services and providing health care for underserved populations

· Knowledge of the Orange County philanthropic community

· Exceptional interpersonal, communication and writing skills

· Demonstrated success in securing five and six-figure gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations

· Demonstrated success in staff development, supervision and management

· Demonstrated success in working with nonprofit boards and/or community volunteers

· Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and database software (ex. Raiser’s Edge)
