The Senior Director, Physician Practices will be responsible for the comprehensive management and operations improvement of Bayhealth Medical Group, ensuring high-performance practices aligned with organizational goals.

General Summary:
Reporting to the VP, Physician Services for Bayhealth Medical Group, the Senior Director, Physician Practices is a professional responsible for the operations management and development of a high-performance physician group practice at Bayhealth. Incumbent will manage all operational and administrative aspects of the physician practices including financial, business, personnel and real estate. Incumbent will provide direct supervision and support for the practice management team in all day-to-day operations and growth. Incumbent works closely with system executives, hospital administrators and physicians in order to ensure proper alignment with the strategic goals of the system.
Responsibilities:
1. General Practice Management Responsible for new physician practice set-up & implementation & ongoing management of administrative services.
2. Oversees enrollment, credentialing, and contract participation of practice physicians.
3. Oversees all physician practices within BMG a. For surgical division, works to develop relationships with perioperative services and serves as an advocate for BMG surgeons and facilitates effective integration of surgeons into the workings of the preoperative services department. b. For primary care, develops working knowledge of the ACO and partners to support population health efforts.
4. Oversees primary care and specialty medical practices through Sr. Practice Manager and Practice managers as structured.
5. Supports hiring & supervision of administrative & other support staff for the employed medical practices.
6. Partners in physician recruitment, expansion, & marketing of BMG including new locations, service lines, and programs; arranges for services to assist physicians in practice development & management.
7. Oversees collaboration of clinical & business staff in the creation of policies, procedures, protocols & systems, to provide efficient, accurate patient encounters, improveing practice effectiveness and the quality of patient outcomes.
8. Financial Management Responsible for all financial functions associated with the employed medical practice including budgeting, billing, collections, claims analysis, etc.
9. Partners with VP in budgeting process. Develops revenue and cost projections to achieve organizational objectives.
10. Monitors compliance with documentation, coding, encounters, and copayments through collaboration with the Revenue Cycle Manager.
11. Directs the preparation of periodic financial statements, measuring relevant business activity and financial position of the organization to ensure appropriate scrutiny & financial management. Utilizes modeling, forecasting, benchmarking, cost/benefit analysis to enhance stakeholder understanding and improve decision making.
12. Works closely with finance and supply chain to ensure obligations are met, minimize expense, & maintain a stable supply of resources.
13. Remain up to date on changes in governmental policies with respect to reimbursement and the financial management of practice.
14. Information Management Partners with IT to ensure BMG is supported and shows improved business performance related to opportunities for automation such as telehealth, pre-registration, use of MyChart, etc.
15. Facilities Management Ensures that maintenance, cleaning and grounds services are adequate for BMG locations; works with facilities on any issues.
16. Partners with Bayhealth resources to coordinate renovation, repair, and new construction projects related to BMG practices.
17. Human Resources Management Develops a workforce plan supporting growth & efficient operation of the group, including projections of personnel.
18. Selects and supervises practice management team. Evaluates performance & recommends merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
19. Promotes organizational & individual success through ongoing support, empowerment, & effective teamwork to enhance staff loyalty & productivity.
20. Participates in the recruitment for physicians, advanced practice providers, and site supervisor staff.
21. Ensures performance goals for physicians and management team align with Bayhealth’s strategic plan with the ability to track performance and outcomes.
22. Planning & Marketing Supports the VP & Medical Director in the development of a strategic plan for BMG that is in alignment with Bayhealth’s strategic plan.
23. Continually identifies service line group opportunities including physician service market gaps, new services, & strategic partnerships.
24. Collaborates with Bayhealth’s marketing department to provide marketing assistance to practices and develops an effective, ongoing public relations campaign that differentiates and promotes the group practice. Promote online marketing.
25. Risk Management & Compliance Exercise due diligence throughout contract development, negotiations, & compliance by reviewing, analyzing, and consulting appropriate resources to diminish risk.

27. Resolve conflicts with internal & external stakeholders by addressing complaints immediately with established grievance procedures.
28. Follow up on all risk variances timely and conduct education across BMG as appropriate to learn from risk issues.
29. Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient, staff, and organizational proprietary information per Bayhealth Policy.
30. Respond to all reports of inappropriate conduct with corrective solutions through investigation, discussion & monitoring with organization leadership to protect patients, staff, Bayhealth, and others.
31. Work closely with BMG Revenue Cycle and Bayhealth’s Internal Audit team on auditing and documentation/coding compliance.
32. Other Responsibilities Monitor physician performance related to compensation plan. Work with VP ongoing to ensure physician compliance and success.
33. Ensure quarterly reporting of individual physician productivity and bonus productivity accounting is accurate and timely.
34. Develop and maintain an effective relationship with the medical and administrative staff, senior executives, patients and the public.
35. Review & analyze changes in regulations, legislation or policies that have an impact on physician practice activities.
36. Develop and coordinate physician-related seminar related to practice management, regulatory and reimbursement changes, service area needs for physician services and healthcare environmental issues.
37. Advance personal knowledge base by pursuing continuing education and credentialing order to enhance professional competence.
38. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities
