Role Overview:

The Senior Director , will lead the development and delivery of Wiley's web marketing experience platforms globally, ensuring they empower marketers, engage users, and scale to meet growing B2B and B2C marketing demands. This role is responsible for driving innovation, expanding digital marketing platform capabilities, and implementing governance and best practices that enable a democratized, scalable web marketing ecosystem focused on driving traffic, enhancing user engagement, and supporting marketing campaign objectives. The ideal candidate is a seasoned digital marketing expert with extensive experience in user experience, design systems, content management systems (CMS), digital asset management (DAM), product management, and development.

The Senior Director, Web Marketing Experience Platforms will oversee all aspects of establishing the company's web marketing strategies, policies, usability, SEO/SEM, analytics, and architecture. The goal is to optimize Wiley.com for traffic, usability, and customer experience.

This role requires a strategic leader adept at working across creative, technical, and business stakeholders to translate vision into actionable strategies and requirements. Key responsibilities include leading a team of digital marketers, collaborating with IT and agency partners, and delivering multi-site, multi-brand, globally localized platforms using flexible, atomic design systems. The successful candidate will bring expertise in digital transformation, managing user experience designers, developers, and product owners, and implementing seamless experiences for users-from unknown prospects to fully authenticated customers.

The Senior Director will evolve and, where necessary, overhaul Wiley's digital content delivery through the Adobe Experience Platform, guiding a team of digital marketers and collaborating with IT and agency partners. This includes creating a cutting-edge prospect and customer engagement platform, leveraging expertise in multi-site, multi-brand, globally localized content delivery based on flexible, atomic design and templating systems.

The Digital Experience Platforms team comprises CMS, personalization, DAM, SEO, digital production, user experience, and digital design. The team works closely with brand and field marketing to deliver web and integrated campaign experiences. In partnership with IT and agency partners, the team develops the components and features necessary to evolve and expand digital capabilities. To achieve scale and consistently deliver exceptional user experiences across Wiley, the team collaborates closely with product and distribution teams to address every aspect of the customer journey. The Senior Director plays a crucial role in ensuring these journeys are cohesive and outstanding by coordinating efforts with both product and distribution teams to cover the entire end-to-end web marketing experience.

  • Develop and implement the global web marketing strategy, aligning with Wiley's overall business and marketing goals.
  • Deliver an optimized, cohesive, and engaging digital experience for users
  • Lead the design, development, and continuous optimization of Wiley.com and other marketing websites, ensuring usability, accessibility, and brand alignment.
  • Oversee SEO, SEM, and content marketing strategies to increase visibility and drive qualified traffic to the website.
  • Maximize wiley.com's organic and paid search performance to meet lead generation and conversion goals.
  • Analyze Marketing's web performance metrics and generate insights to inform strategy and decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data-driven optimizations.
  • Manage a team of web marketing professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Product Marketing, IT, and Data Analytics, to implement new features and optimize workflows.
  • Ensure seamless integration of web marketing with other business functions.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business, Web Development, or a related field; Master's degree (MBA or equivalent). certification in digital marketing or web development preferred.
  • 10+ years in digital/web marketing roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position. Experience in the publishing or content-driven industry is highly desirable.
  • Experience with personalization and AI-driven web solutions.
  • Expertise in web strategy, content management systems (CMS), and user experience (UX).
  • Proven success in leading SEO, SEM, and web analytics initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of web development processes and digital marketing technologies.
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution.
  • Advanced knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics).
  • Proficiency in CMS platforms (e.g., AEM, WordPress, Webflow).
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing integrations (e.g., CRM, Marketing Automation).
  • Exceptional problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Highly adaptable to changing priorities and technologies.
  • Proven track record in managing large, cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and present to executive leadership.
