Senior Manager, Business Intelligence
LOCATION
Irvine, California - Hybrid (in-office at Irvine Regional Office for a minimum of 3 days per week)
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a related field (advanced degree preferred), 5-8 years of experience in BI, data analytics, and financial modeling, proficiency in SQL, Power BI, and advanced Microsoft Excel modeling. Experience in FP&A and the institutional residential real estate industry is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee development of forecasting models, revenue optimization initiatives, and BI solutions; collaborate with cross-functional teams; manage BI needs pipeline; perform financial analysis, and ensure data governance and integrity.

Overview:
The Revenue Operations BI & Analytics team is dedicated to empowering the division (including Marketing, Leasing, and Revenue Management) by disseminating data-driven insights, supporting the development of proprietary analytics and tools linking operational metrics to financial outcomes.
The Senior Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the development of forecasting models, revenue optimization initiatives, and a suite of data-driven dashboards and visualizations designed to drive revenue growth, improve market share, and enhance profitability of the Company.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of dynamic data solutions to meet diverse analytical and reporting needs in alignment with the revenue operation team’s strategic objectives and evolving priorities.
Partner with IT and data teams to ensure data models are optimized and meet evolving business requirements.
Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization including cross-functional partners in IT, data engineering, accounting, finance, and business stakeholders to optimize data solutions that support key business decisions.
Manage a robust pipeline of BI needs including scoping business requirements, evaluating solutions and ease of execution, and building consensus on prioritization of deployment to optimize delivery of deliverables with the greatest impact on the business efficiently.
Perform advanced financial analysis, including variance, trend, and forecasting, to enhance visibility and insights into financial performance.
Oversee the creation of business cases, including sensitivity modeling, to evaluate the tradeoffs, potential risks and upside potential of key initiatives.
Analyze large data sets to identify macro and micro trends, anomalies, and opportunities for iterative improvements to enhance insights and improve accuracy.
Drives alignment of business and technical definitions of enterprise KPI’s and memorializes the definitions in the enterprise Data Dictionary.
Partners closely with data architects, data engineers and data analysts on data discovery, reference data models, and data quality efforts. Works closely with IT on improving Enterprise DWH.
Actively engage data governance efforts, ensuring the integrity and consistency of data across the organization. Manage the BI data model, ensuring a "single version of the truth" and supporting standardization of key metrics.
Required Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced degree preferred.
5-8 years of experience in BI, data analytics, and financial modeling
Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, and advanced Microsoft Excel modeling.
Experience building Budgets or in FP&A, working with dynamic pricing models a plus
Experience in the institutional residential real estate industry (working with Yardi and PM tech stacks) a plus
Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
Working Conditions:
Work is primarily conducted in an office setting. Requires sitting at a desk or workstation for extended periods. Involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
Requires the ability to work Monday through Friday. Entails in-person office requirements for a minimum of 3 days per week: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, located at Essex's corporate offices in Irvine.
Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Minimal physical effort in the day-to-day tasks.
Minimal travel may be required for occasional meetings, training, or conferences.

The salary range for this position is $134,000.00 - $201,000.00 per year. New hires generally start between $134,000.00 - $167,000.00 per year.
