SHORT DESCRIPTION
Empire Justice Center seeks a Senior Manager of Community Outreach to engage marginalized communities, advocating for language access and providing necessary legal services.
Empire Justice Center is pleased to announce an opening for a Senior Manager of Community Outreach. This position seeks to connect with marginalized communities, especially those facing language barriers, to help them understand, seek the services they need, and connect them with those that Empire Justice Center can provide. The Senior Manager will be housed at our Rochester Library location. The position will work with Empire Justice Center teams and leadership to focus on outreach to critical client communities.
The position will assist with day-to-day CASH program operations, recruit volunteers who can assist clients with language access, and work with the DEIA Director and Office Manager to optimize language access systems for the CASH program. When time permits, this position will also work with program Directors to advocate for individuals and groups to affect policy change and provide education and training to individuals and non-profit organizations within Monroe County.
Salary depends on years of experience and the organizational pay scale. The salary range for this position is $54,496-$71,136.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Fields phone calls from clients, staff, community partners, etc., regarding Empire Justice services.
- Receives and directs visitors at the Empire Justice Center Library location.
- Communicates to clients the process for Tax Preparation Services via outreach materials in conjunction with the Director of CASH and Community Partnerships, CASH VITA Manager, CASH Office Manager, and CASH Marketing Coordinator.
- Assists VITA and CASH with tax site operations.
- Coordinates education and outreach opportunities with all Empire Justice Center staff on behalf of Empire Justice Center, especially LITC and CASH, but also for all other services, with needs determined by a regular assessment developed with the Chief Strategy Officer.
- Collaborates with the CASH Volunteer Program Manager on volunteer recruitment as requested, especially in the LEP community, intending to recruit diverse volunteers.
- Works with the CASH Office Manager on language access needs for CASH clients, staff, and volunteers. This includes setting up translation or interpretation of services or materials as needed.
- Serves as a community liaison to Latino/e/x community for the organization.
- Working with the DEIA Director, works with seasonal operation staff to set up VITA main and partner sites to ensure all sites are aware of Empire Justice Center’s language access plans, monitor for quality, and identify opportunities for providing a more positive client experience. This includes training of all volunteers and site staff.
- Develop relationships to provide materials to organizations within Monroe County about the Empire Justice Center's overall work.
- Participates in discussions with fellow community advocacy and legal services partners to identify language justice needs and provides language justice needs reports to the Chief Strategy Officer and Director of Policy and Communications.
- Please note that all positions will supervise other practice group members if needed.
- Due to limited resources, all staff are expected to perform administrative and other support-related duties to serve our clients and fulfill our mission as a non-profit legal services organization.
- Other duties as assigned by your supervisor and/or to meet the organization’s needs.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- A minimum of ten (10) years of related work experience with at least two (2) years of experience working in the area of language access advocacy;
- Experience in presenting educational programming to groups.
