ICMA seeks a Senior Marketing Manager to enhance digital engagement and lead marketing strategies that promote local government issues and ICMA programs.

A Great Opportunity:

ICMA is seeking an ingenious Senior Marketing Manager, Digital Engagement and Marketing to lead and drive the strategic digital marketing vision for ICMA by analyzing campaigns and finding new insights that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of content marketing. The position manages complex integrated strategies across ICMA business teams and vendors to deliver on ICMA's marketing and communication business goals. The position directs the development of concepts into full-fledged digital activations, using a wide range of storytelling mediums to drive results. This position requires a resourceful self-starter with strong management and marketing skills. The ideal candidate is a seasoned marketer with a solid understanding of the marketing and communications discipline, and proven skills in the successful implementation of traditional marketing techniques as well as new media.

The Senior Marketing Manager, Digital Engagement and Marketing reports to the Director, Brand Management, Marketing and Outreach.

The Senior Marketing Manager, Digital Engagement and Marketing salary is based on experience level and ranges between $93,063 and $116,327.

What you'll do:

  • Lead a team to develop and implement digital marketing strategies and campaigns to raise awareness about ICMA, relevant local government issues, and highlights of ICMA programs, services, and members.
  • Develop strategic recommendations that reflect both the knowledge of each business team's objectives as well as creative thinking to continuously drive the business; proactively share ideas and recommendations with marketing and outreach leadership and business team members.
  • Position is delegated authority to hire for approved positions, supervise and develop staff, and develop, manage, and distribute funds allocated in the budget.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of projects involving ICMA's website, social media properties, member communities and non-owned channels.
  • Work closely with Outreach leadership to define team goals, objectives, projects, and budgets.
  • Serve as staff liaison for digital strategies ad hoc teams.
  • Identify opportunities for membership professional development and business development; research policy, and global programs to enhance resources, programs and product offerings.
  • Craft channel promotional plans in collaboration with owned channel leads (email, social, web) & paid media.
  • Keep current in digital technology, competitors, and general market trends to ensure the development of a digital strategy and roadmap that drives continuous innovation and improvement.
  • Collaborate with agencies, vendor partners, and the internal marketing team to improve digital performance.
  • Manage ad hoc requests and prioritize projects according to business needs, including developing business requirements for reports based on client needs and specifications.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, communications, public relations, or related discipline
  • Eight (8) or more years of progressive experience in developing and overseeing marketing and/or digital marketing teams and strategies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Certificate in Digital Marketing
  • Skill in use of Adobe Creative Suite and Web development

  • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing management and strategy development
  • Demonstrated knowledge of digital marketing techniques
  • Ability to successfully establish and maintain effective working relationships with strategic partners, staff, and ICMA members
  • Effectively lead or participate in cross-functional teams to implement complex projects to meet Association goals with successful results
  • Effectively coaches and mentors employees and determines team priorities and workload
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team or independently
  • Strong management and leadership skills, including problem-solving skills and ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Skill in SEO and google analytics
  • Proficient in Email marketing
  • Demonstrated ability to compile and analyze data, KPIs, and make sound decisions regarding strategic direction forward
  • Experienced in the development, execution, and measurement of multi-dimensional strategic marketing initiatives
  • Strong visual capabilities for data analysis and presentation
  • Effective organizational and project management skills including demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines consistently

This position is based out of ICMA's headquarters, located in Washington, D.C. At this time, all ICMA staff are working remotely. The selected individual must be able to work the core business hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm EST. Our office will remain operational and accessible for staff to use on a voluntary basis.

A high-speed Internet connection is required. Personnel will provide the Internet service at their own expense. The internet connection must be of sufficient bandwidth to allow the team member to efficiently perform their regular job functions.
