Description:
Seeks a skilled Senior Researcher and Marketing Specialist to support the Department of the Army's Office of the Chief of Public Affairs (OCPA) and the Department of Defense (DoD) Public Affairs. This role combines expertise in social science research and strategic communication, focusing on analyzing media trends and delivering actionable insights to optimize Army messaging across diverse platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Metrics Development & Campaign Analysis:
- Develop, track, and evaluate communication metrics for Army campaigns.
- Recommend strategies to enhance message delivery on Army and mainstream media platforms.
- Apply industry best practices in communication metrics and analytics.
Media & Social Media Monitoring:
- Monitor traditional and social media content to refine Army messaging.
- Identify key influencers, media outlets, and trends to align with communication goals.
- Provide comprehensive performance reports, including thematic analysis and engagement metrics.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Leverage business intelligence tools for data-driven assessments of Army messaging.
- Produce regular reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) with insights on media trends and communication effectiveness.
- Create message maps visualizing narrative dissemination across platforms.
Database & Knowledge Management:
- Establish and maintain robust databases for communication-related data.
- Archive data for up to three years, ensuring accessibility for key stakeholders.
- Analyze public opinion poll data (e.g., Gallup, Pew Research) to provide actionable recommendations.
Social Listening & Advanced Analytics:
- Oversee tools like Talkwalker, Meltwater, and Google Analytics for media trend analysis.
- Generate periodic sentiment analysis reports to inform strategic objectives.
- Track trends across DoD digital platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Collaboration & Communication Recommendations:
- Work with various OCPA divisions to align communication strategies.
- Present insights and strategic recommendations to leadership for improved messaging.
- Highlight positive coverage through "Good News Stories" reports.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Stay updated on communication industry best practices.
- Ensure all deliverables are compatible with Microsoft Office Suite for streamlined access.
- Provide timely reports to support decision-making and response planning.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Data Science, or a related field.
- Advanced degree or training in media analysis or data analytics preferred.
Experience:
- At least , or related fields within the last 10 years.
- Proficiency with social listening tools (e.g., Talkwalker, Meltwater, Google Analytics) and data visualization platforms.
Skills:
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in social listening tools, business intelligence software, and data management platforms.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret complex datasets and deliver actionable insights.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication for presenting findings to senior leadership.
Additional Requirements:

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
