Prepare and review tax returns for various entities, supervise and train staff, manage multiple engagements, build client relationships, assist with administration activities, conduct research, and stay updated on tax laws.

The Opportunity
PKF San Diego, a full-service CPA firm with 45 employees, is seeking to fill the position for a Senior Tax Associate to join our growing team. This experienced individual will have the opportunity to work on preparing and reviewing various tax returns including, but not limited to, individuals, corporations, and partnerships. As a senior tax associate, you will work directly with partners, collaborate with other tax staff, and communicate directly with clients. Required fieldwork will be mostly local, with the rare occasion of out-of-town travel. What You’ll Do
  • Prepare and review tax returns for “C” and “S” corporations (from start-up to $1 Billion in sales), partnerships, and individuals.
  • Supervising staff includes:
    • delegating tasks
    • on-the-job training
    • reviewing work
    • providing feedback
    • assessing performance
  • Managing multiple engagements and contributing to team environment.
  • Communicating and building relationships with clients.
  • Assist with other company administration and marketing activities as assigned.
  • Researching accounting and tax matters.
  • Maintains awareness of general business trends and issues and applies that knowledge to client issues and solutions.
  • Attends training seminars, professional development, and networking events.
  • Become familiar with sections with the IRC
  • Corresponding with government agencies to resolve notices
Your Skills + Experience
  • Bachelor’s (or advanced) degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of tax experience in a public accounting firm.
  • Proficient accounting skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate.
  • Possess critical thinking skills and as well as having an acute attention to detail.
  • Adept with Excel and Word.
  • Have or are working toward a CPA certification.
  • Experience with ProSystem-fx Tax and Access a plus.
Additional Details
  • Full time – In Office site is in Mission Valley, CA is preferable, Hybrid option available.

Compensation
  • $85,000 - $105,000 based on experience and qualifications
