Purpose

Grow our website traffic, improve organic website rankings, and provide detailed research and briefs to our Content Writers. Have an extensive understanding of up-to-date changes and best practices related to search engine optimization and have a passion for creating quality content.

Must have a broad understanding of best practices related to search engine optimization and the ability to partner with a content writing team. Have ample experience and be able to recommend breakthrough techniques that improve keyword ranking, organic traffic, and conversions for websites in competitive markets


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Provide thought leadership regarding SEO initiatives to increase education and consideration for our consumer brands, with a goal of increasing SEO traffic to key destinations and website actions

Ensure that SEO and Content Marketing initiatives are driving impact through stated outcomes with clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); responsible for attaining and reporting on performance relative to those KPIs

Identify and implement on-page optimizations (title tag, description, H1, H2, keyword density, internal links, page size, XHTML compliance, schemas) to maximize SEO value and user engagement

Strategize planning of new content articles, infographics, and videos that rank for popular nonbrand keywords

Conduct keyword research, topic selection, and deliver content briefs to the content team

Build and maintain SEO-focused content guidelines for website templates/sections

Manage periodic content revision, identify opportunities for refresh, re-optimization, content retirement, and clean-up

Collaborate with the Content Team to refine and improve content value with a data-first approach

Identify new search opportunities and incorporate them into the content strategy

Analyze and report on content performance, providing actionable insights to improve future content strategy and execution

Provide strategic SEO planning and recommendations for new websites or website refresh projects

Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and algorithm updates that impact search engine rankings and share them with the broader organization and key stakeholders


Qualifications and Education Requirements

2+ years of SEO experience executing large-scale optimization programs

2+ years managing content production and planning, focused on engaging content that ranks well

Strong understanding of structured data and tactics that optimize content readability for search engines

Advanced experience using Google Analytics, Search Console, and other related SEO tools

Proven track record implementing the latest and best SEO practices. Experience managing and optimizing in a highly competitive vertical (education, mortgage, loans, legal, insurance, etc.)

Advanced experience with SEO tools (BrightEdge, Conductor Searchlight, SEMRush, KeywordSpy, AHREFS, Raven Tools, Advanced Web Rankings, and/or SEOmoz)

Excellent communication and organization skills

Ability to multitask and strong problem-solving skills
