Social Media Intern

The New Republic is seeking a full-time intern to join our audience team on February 17. The position pays $17 - $19/hour and lasts six months. Though we work remotely at TNR, you must be based in the New York, New Jersey, Connecticut or District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland tristate areas. The intern reports to the director of engagement. The ideal candidate pays close attention to detail, has strong writing skills, and shows initiative in their work. Journalism or marketing experience is preferred, but not imperative; some familiarity with content marketing best practices is helpful. Interns are asked to contribute to The New Republic by:

—Schedule social media posts, curating TNR’s journalism for platforms including, but not limited to, X/Twitter, Instagram, Threads, and Substack.

—Collecting data from analytics tools and looking for actionable insights.

—Monitoring social media trends in the publishing industry and advising the director of engagement on any tactics that can help TNR reach more people via social media.
