SHORT DESCRIPTION

The Social Media Manager will oversee Eighth Generation’s social media accounts, creating and scheduling content while engaging audiences to promote authentic Native art and values.

Location: Seattle, WA
Under the Director of Marketing, the Social Media Manager will work closely with Eighth Generation’s marketing team and manage Eighth Generation’s social media accounts, creating daily content and engaging digital audiences by blending trending, product, and educational posts. The Social Media Manager may also assist in other daily marketing tasks. Our goal is to share authentic Native art, excellence, and values with a global audience while empowering customers to shop Native.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create daily content calendar for social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, and occasionally YouTube, among others.
  • Create daily content for above platforms, ensuring consistency and adherence to the content calendar and brand standards.
  • Direct Marketing Associate on social media content creation as needed.
  • Take photo/video content with Eighth Generation’s iPhone and digital SLR, edit content, add transcriptions to videos, and write captions for posts.
  • Monitor social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions, and respond promptly and appropriately to engage with our audience and address inquiries or concerns.
  • Monitor key social media metrics and analytics to evaluate the performance of content and campaigns.
  • Manage third-party social media ad placement agency to suggest content and audiences for Meta and Google ads, ensuring consistency and adherence to brand standards and goals.
  • Stay up-to-date with social media trends and best practices and leverage those to grow our accounts.
  • Build influencer marketing program.
  • Host giveaways on social media accounts.
  • Assist on off-site photo shoots throughout the year (driving reimbursed).
  • Assist with general marketing tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in social media account management
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience creating social media content for a brand or business
  • Solid knowledge of social media analytics and reporting tools
  • Able to receive and implement constructive feedback
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to differentiate “voice” among platforms
  • Able to work with tight deadlines and on multiple projects at once
  • General knowledge of Native American and/or First Nations issues
  • Skill with graphics/layout in Canva preferred
  • Associates or other 2-year degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
