SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Social Media Marketing Manager at John Carroll University will enhance social media presence to support undergraduate enrollment through strategic content creation and digital marketing efforts.
- Interacts on social platforms as John Carroll University with accounts that are part of the JCU ecosystem, and beyond. Interacts as JCU when responding to direct messages/comments and during crisis communication scenarios.
- Plan, write and execute a schedule of posts using Hootsuite and native apps. Research and do discovery among industry best-in-class and trending approaches to enhance John Carroll’s social media presence.
- Develop and manage the social media calendar
- Manage business manager accounts through Meta, Snapchat, Tiktok and LinkedIn ads manager.
- Support external paid digital media buyer and advertising development for paid brand, academic and event campaigns through Google, Meta, Snapchat, Tiktok and LinkedIn.
- Review and analyze data across platforms; use performance metrics to plan strategies that build awareness and increase engagement. Dynamically share analytics and deliverables with key stakeholders.
- Create relationships with key stakeholders, faculty, and departments across campus to develop stories and posts. Act as liaison from IMC.
- Support IMC intern program and JC4U paid social media ambassadors
- Offer training and recommendations for all program-level social media accounts and specialists across campus. While your primary role will be the institution accounts, you will heavily support enrollment while also embracing and supporting collaboration among department social media accounts.
- Work with Enrollment, student tour guides, and ambassadors to curate meaningful user-generated content.
- Support the IMC team as needed —not limited to writing for JCU.edu, communications related to enrollment, video and photography content creation and supporting the President’s Office.
- Collaborates and contributes to ideation and planning as it pertains to the overall marketing of John Carroll University.
- Performs other related work as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design or related field
- 3-5 years of social media, marketing and communications experience
- Creative thinker
- Skilled and tenacious relationship-builder and collaborator
- Fluency in social media networks –experience with the ideating and hands-on creative side of a brand’s multi-media content for social media networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and Hootsuite
- Experience with equipment and tools for creative content development –experience working with video and camera equipment a must
- Photography experience and working with professional cameras
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail
- Skilled in spotting trends and cultural moments through social listening; comfortable with data and capable of translating it into social/digital activations
- Full understanding of content and platforms, and how to drive best-in-class performance.
- Fluency in Google Suite
- Strong understanding of working in Adobe creative suite–Lightroom, Premiere and other video editing tools a plus
- Capable of utilizing data and analytics to inform and adjust programming and content decisions.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize projects.
- Interest in understanding and supporting John Carroll’s mission to inspire individuals to excel in learning, leadership, and service in the region and in the world.
- Experience working in higher education or related field
- Understanding of Basecamp or other project management and workflow processes programs a plus
- Experience in setting key KPIs and engagement metrics to measure impact and determine improvements.
- Experience with website design
- Understanding of paid digital marketing
