We have an exciting position within our Platforms Business Segment focused on managing and executing on the delivery of marketing activities and materials. The purpose of this content is to promote the value propositions of our platform products and services that complement our industry-leading HDD devices, while further establishing Western Digital Platforms products as top-tier storage infrastructure solutions in our targeted market segments.

The Product Marketing Manager acts as the liaison between product managers and the market. In this role you will design materials and activities that clearly articulate compelling value of our products and services to our target audience. This position works closely with the product management team to understand the value of our offerings as well as the audience for each of our products and services. You will work with Sales, Channel Marketing, Business Development and Public Relations teams to actively drive the development of content suited for their planned activities. You will provide strategic and creative input to each of those teams to help them formulate their communication strategies and initiatives.

Your ability to understand product details, strengths and differentiators will be key to your success, as will your knowledge and understanding of marketing techniques and strategies. Above all these needed skills will be your ability to channel that knowledge into crisp, clear, compelling messaging that will be leveraged globally to properly position our offerings. Your creative output will provide a foundation for all direct marketing and collaborative marketing activities via our channels, as well as our OEM, distribution, and technology partner channels.


Job Description


You will work within Western Digital cross-functionally to gather information related to product value propositions and to develop and influence our go to market channel strategies and content. Primary functional interfaces with other departments including Product Management, Business Development, Channel Marketing, Corporate Marketing, HDD Product Marketing, Web Marketing and Development, Public Relations and Sales.

In this role you will be expected to:

  • Develop crisp, clear, compelling value propositions for our product and service offerings.
  • Initiate and guide the development of promotional material including:
    • Product literature,
    • Marketing campaign content for events, direct marketing, and social marketing,
    • Web content,
    • Promotional videos,
    • Tradeshow event content of various types,
    • Partner solution briefs and customer case studies
    • Vertical marketing content (e.g. High Performance Computing, FinTech, xSPs, OEM/ODM, etc.)
    • Newsletters
  • Manage marketing projects which includes development and presentation of schedules and dependencies for creation and deployment.
  • Manage a schedule and lead hosting activities for webinars and other events that are focused on Western Digital offerings and in some cases collaboration with channel or technology partners.
  • Travel occasionally in support of events or content production.
  • Manage a portfolio view of all planned activities and keep organizations aligned and on track for each project within the portfolio.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or technical field, or comparable experience
  • 5+ years of experience in product marketing or product management role in a technology related field
  • Storage industry experience
  • Proven track record of product marketing for technical products
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical product capabilities into compelling market messages
  • Knowledge of the data storage industry or other datacenter infrastructure
  • Can show a compelling portfolio of product marketing content (for the areas listed under essential duties) that was developed via direct oversight or contribution
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to develop compelling messaging and to work effectively and efficiently in this key cross-functional role
  • Knowledge and experience with content development tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere Pro
  • Proven ability to develop amazing product presentations and high-level solution diagrams (with technical assistance from associated functions)
