The Marketing Specialist – Communications will support the Marketing & Communications Office in executing marketing strategies to achieve the objectives of Coastal Alabama Community College.
Position Summary
The Marketing Specialist – Communications supports the Marketing & Communications Office (MARCO) in developing and implementing marketing programs to meet the strategic marketing goals of Coastal Alabama Community College. The position is well-suited for those with an interest in growing as a marketing or communications professional.

- Assists with the development, implementation, and tracking of marketing programs such as email, social media, or digital campaigns, and events
- Conducts market research and analyze trends to identify new marketing opportunities
- Develops and creates marketing materials and plans, such as social media calendars, newsletters, email marketing, etc., and ensure brand guidelines are met
- Writes, proofreads, and edits creative and technical content across different mediums
- Serves as central recipient of new information for college websites, working with other departments to ensure content is up-to-date, accurate, and adheres to the Coastal Alabama style and brand guidelines
- Assists with website revisions and maintenance
- Assists in maintaining a college newsletter for internal and external stakeholders
- Assists with social media communications with students, potential students, and interested parties, building relationships with existing supporters online
- Contributes ideas for the growth of social media networks and audiences
- Writes social-media style content and engage readers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and any other social-media platforms, as needed, based on stories, blogs, videos and other college-related content.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college OR equivalent recent relevant full-time work experience (two years of full-time recent relevant work experience for every one year of college).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others and work under pressure.
- One year of current or recent work experience.
- Experience maintaining professional social media accounts.
- An understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college.
- Commitment to all students and faculty including those of diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. The TRS is a defined benefit plan qualified under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. All regular full-time and part-time employees (non-temporary and non- student) who work at least 20 hours per week are required to participate in The Teachers' Retirement System of Alabama.
Tier I - Pays 7.50% monthly. State matches 13.57% (effective 10/01/24)

Health Insurance
PEEHIP, established in 1983, provides health insurance benefits for active and retired education employees and is governed by the PEEHIP Board of Control.
