This internal communication role is responsible for owning and managing Optum Tech Comms channels and events to further employee engagement. The role will be responsible for overseeing the weekly editorial calendar, creating and selecting which stories get visibility, and the appropriate channel pushes. This individual will also ensure best practices in employee engagement/marketing to increase activity and show growth via metrics/data. This position requires a strategic communicator with a generalist background and experience in various communications disciplines to support the organization’s operations and diverse functions.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Serves as the channel strategy lead across all Optum Tech communication vehicles (Viva Engage, newsletters, leadership email messages, Sparq, SharePoint, events and more)
- Provides strategic counsel to key stakeholders on communication opportunities aligned to priorities, appropriate channel for message and manages execution of deliverables
- Identifies communication needs and prioritizes efforts that create value and inspire team members to contribute to our mission and growth priorities
- Assists Communication team members with content creation for internal channels
- Places approved, final content into identified channel(s), ensures Quality assurance and works with corporate communication partners on publishing/distribution
- Leads the editorial calendar process and manages content flow
- Partners with team to ensure distribution lists and filters are maintained
- Publishes and manages OT comms SharePoint site and oversees the Viva Engage community
- Leads the logistical planning and execution for quarterly town halls
- Crafts monthly newsletter based on top editorial content for all OT employees

Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of communications experience; PR agency background is a plus
- Experience with and an appreciation of an integrated approach to communications
- Attention to detail, event and project management experience
- Proven ability to develop and execute on deliverables in communications plans
- Solid writing and editing skills with a proficiency in Associated Press style
- Proven creative, energetic, and solutions-oriented mindset
- Works well in high-pressure, deadline-centered activities
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams and function, with experience working in a matrixed organization
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
- Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies
- Responds well to real-time feedback and pivots to meet evolving expectations/deliverables
- Demonstrates a high level of initiative, solid work ethic and the ability to balance multiple assignments
- Proven ability to work with different management styles and levels
- Possess the demonstrated ability to collaborate and adapt to changing internal dynamics and priorities
- Proven ability to develop successful working relationships with senior executives
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field
- Experience with Viva, SharePoint, and MS Teams
- Demonstrated ability to establish trusted relationships
- Knowledge of the health care industry

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $70,200 to $137,800 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
