Seeking a talented Sr. Digital UX Designer to enhance the user experience of Academy’s digital products through research, testing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Location: Katy, Texas
Job Type: Contract
Compensation Range: $45 - 50 per hour
We are looking for a talented Sr. Digital UX Designer to enhance the user experience of Academy’s digital products. In this role, you will conduct user research, analyze tasks, and resolve UX issues through testing and evaluation. You’ll create actionable recommendations, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and oversee A/B testing campaigns. Your expertise will drive the development of high-fidelity prototypes, user-centered designs, and usability testing. Additionally, you'll manage design policies and collaborate on strategy to improve the overall digital experience for our customers. Responsibilities:
- Conduct various forms of user research and task analysis to identify opportunities to improve the user experience for Academy digital products.
- Investigate and resolve user experience issues through evaluation and various forms of testing (i.e., user testing, A/B).
- Synthesize research findings into meaningful recommendations and actionable results.
- Complete research, competitive analysis, user/stakeholder reviews, analytics, and unbiased recommendations in a highly collaborative environment.
- Create UX research reports, process maps, low fidelity prototypes, and other artifacts to describe the intended user experience from which UX Designers will work and Product Managers prioritize.
- Provide recommendations on the Usability Testing approach.
- Manage all aspects of Usability testing, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, Usability Testing logistics, respondent criteria, and testing artifacts.
- Oversee and activate A/B testing campaigns to continuously improve the user experience; partner with Product Managers to include proven tests into live features for our customers.
- Drive visual design experience based upon user data, research, best practices, and consumer needs for a given capability and persona(s).
- Partner with UX Researcher/Analyst, Designers, and Product Manager to present ideas and concepts to senior management.
- Drive the development and communication of the user design process for a given initiative.
- Apply data research and team product expertise to create interactive designs that deliver relevant and engaging experiences for personas.
- Perform rapid prototyping to validate the business and customer goals, usability, and feasibility of a new product idea in collaboration with the product team.
- Validate design by participating in user testing and iterates or pivots based on the user test results.
- Create engaging, usable, and effective designs that meet user-centric goals.
- Design and oversee high fidelity prototype creation with interaction from other capabilities and teams.
- Serve as the subject matter expert, develop/maintain style guides, and policies for web design for the Omnichannel department, in partnership with Site Operations and Brand Marketing teams.
- Lead socialization efforts to adopt new policies, style guides, and design standards.
- Champion user-centered design approaches and principles.
- Provide visual design assets required for Usability testing.
- Write user stories following INVEST model.
- Participate in AGILE methodology.
- Partner with IT to provide product assets.
- Leverage additional Designers as appropriate to set the overall direction and workflow schedule.
- Develop a thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures, and safety rules.
- Duties may change; Team Members may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in UX Design, and user-centered design principles including User Interface Design (UI).
- Experience developing eCommerce UI/UX, mobile and iPad apps, and responsive web.
- Working Experience with Adobe XD or Sketch, Creative Cloud, IvisionApp, Figma, or similar.
- Working experience in building interactions.

- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels, both internally and externally.
- Advanced knowledge of wireframing and design-related software tools.
- Keen eye for details and assets selection.
