The Senior Graphic Designer will create and distribute marketing materials, improve brand messaging, and support product launches while leveraging digital channels and trends.

SUMMARY

Working with the Director of Marketing, the Senior Graphic Designer to strategize, create and distribute marketing materials across the organization, including preparing packaging files and product manuals for our foreign manufacturing partners.

The successful candidate must have (or become savvy) on the pulse of current styles and market trends and consumer preferences around graphics, messaging and emotional contact points. The goal will be to put WAVE and the owned brands of the company on a path to a unique message to stand out amongst the competitors. An appreciation for digital channels like social media, and online video platforms are critical.

The senior graphic designer is responsible for executing the Marketing Strategy (currently in development) for stewarding the design & overall brand; combining art and technology to produce illustrations used for print-related collateral, promo items, emails, web design & related tasks and projects on the corporate and national level. Extensive resourcefulness, organization and the ability to work individually as well as in a team-based setting will be important to the success in the role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

These are basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, other duties may also be assigned.

  • Working with the product planner in advance of product launches. Creating and getting buy-in for concepts
  • Working with the product planners and vendors to assure marketing has products assets 30 days in advance to allow creation of product photo, video assets including installation of products that require lifestyle or application content.
  • Planning concepts by studying relevant information and materials.
  • Illustrating concepts by designing examples of art arrangement, size, type size and style and submitting them for approval.
  • Preparing (packaging files) finished art by operating necessary equipment and software to the accepted departmental best practices.
  • Creating dieline files for in-house or DIY customers and graphics.
  • Constant improvement of all best practices for the department
  • Coordinating with outside agencies, art services, web designer, marketing, printers, and colleagues as necessary. This includes foreign source manufacturers and their representatives.
  • Contributing to team efforts by accomplishing tasks as needed.
  • Communicating with clients about layout and design.
  • Creating a wide range of graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and websites with software such as photoshop.
  • Reviewing final layouts and suggesting improvements when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio.
  • Proficiency with required desktop publishing tools, including Photoshop, InDesign Quark, and Illustrator.
  • A strong eye for visual composition.
  • Able to stand up for the design with facts and marketing trends and defend against loud opinions
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Able to give and receive constructive criticism.
  • Understanding of marketing, production, website design, corporate identity, product packaging, advertisements, and multimedia design.
  • Experience with computer-aided design.
  • Experience working with digital marketing: HubSpot, Google Ads, Social Media, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, MFS is preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience as graphic designer
  • Experienced with all key software in the Adobe Creative Suite
  • A consistent job process that is easy to follow and mentor younger designers
  • Adobe Creative Suite: 5 years (Required)
  • All software in CS if prior to 2013

Pay: $66,027.00 - $70,019.00 per year
