SHORT DESCRIPTION
Planned Parenthood Los Angeles seeks a Senior Manager of Communications to develop and execute cohesive communication strategies for internal and external stakeholders while promoting health equity and reproductive health initiatives.

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Bachler’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience managing communications at a health care organization required.
- Experience working alongside and partnering with licensed health care providers preferably in a reproductive health care setting.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and/or projects.
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience working in health care communications;
- Demonstrated passion for health equity and reproductive health care
- Experience in fast-paced environments and proven ability to prioritize competing projects gracefully
- Demonstrated commitment to privacy and ethics.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as required.
- Ability and willingness to travel within Los Angeles County.
- Reliable means of transportation for onsite and off-site work.
About the Position:
- Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers, and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPLA locations, and by all PPLA employees. Supporting these critical services is an essential job duty, and a fundamental responsibility of all employees and contractors.
- Partner with Chief Communications Officer (CCO) to manage agency-wide editorial calendar.
- Manage frontline communicators to facilitate message alignment.
- Develop social media strategy and manage agency presence across multiple channels.
- Manage a media relations strategy that reaches across LA’s diverse communities to convey the impact of PPLA’s education, advocacy and health care programs.
- Foster positive relationships with reporters, write press releases, pitches and op-eds.
- Manage and maintain media distribution lists.
- Create and support the development of assets used by external-facing teams across the agency, including fact sheets and talking points.
- In collaboration with CCO, develop internal messaging across the agency.
- Maintain knowledge of the latest messaging research relevant to PPLA’s programs.
- Lead message training for key audiences, including staff and spokespeople.
- Support internal communications around key agency initiatives.
- Comply with PPLA’s Standards of Conduct and maintain the highest level of professional and ethical standards to act in compliance with both the letter and spirit of all applicable laws and regulations.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Communications Officer.

- Hiring range: $126,000 - $150,000 per year (Exempt)
