SHORT DESCRIPTION

North American Fire Hose is seeking a Staff Accountant to handle various accounting responsibilities, support financial operations, and assist in maintaining accurate records at their Santa Maria office.

Staff Accountant

North American Fire Hose (NAFH), a worldwide leader in the manufacturing of fire hoses, has an opening for a Staff Accountant at our main office located in Santa Maria. This position will be responsible for a number of accounting duties, including participation in preparation of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and various other duties throughout the Accounting Department.

Although prior experience is not required, the preferred candidates should have an accounting degree, experience with Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple and changing priorities. Bi-lingual candidates appreciated but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the financial reporting processes, including all General Ledger activity and related controls.
  • Support the preparation of monthly financial reports for executive management including the month end closing processes.
  • Support the coordination of quarterly and year-end audit reviews.
  • Support Accounts Payable functions.
  • Support Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Support Information Technology functions.
  • Assist with backing-up Billing and Customer Service when necessary.
  • Provide sales analysis support, including but not limited to:
  • Assist RSMs in identifying potential locations to visit when traveling.
  • Follow-up with Marketing Manager to ensure Email blasts are prepared timely.
  • Assist General Manager in maintaining Email/Customer database.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Business Administration with special emphasis in Accounting or Accounting degree.
  • Effective communication and management skills.
  • Ability to work on a team.
  • Demonstrated skills in all Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Must be highly organized and have excellent attention to detail, as well as flexibility and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks.

  • Able to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Required to have the ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels
  • Demonstrate a positive customer service at all times.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged sitting and occasional standing required.
  • Basic office and equipment safety knowledge and practice.
