Position Overview
The Career Center Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Scheduling Events Coordinator to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Work with employers to arrange on campus interview (OCI) schedules and information sessions/tables, including outreach to employers in our job board. Work with Career Center staff and UNT faculty to establish successful OCI practices. Host OCI events in collaboration with UNT faculty. Troubleshoot problems that occur on OCIs with employers or students. Assist with coordination and scheduling or campus events/programs (Career Fairs; Job Fairs, Etiquette Dinners, Expos, etc.) that involve members of the business community, government departments, nonprofit organizations, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years' of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops.
- Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations.
- Experience in networking across departments and programs.
- Ability to communicate and work with a diverse population.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Bachelors degree in hospitality, marketing, or related field, and 2 years of experience with event planning and coordination, especially job/career fairs. Some experience in sales/customer service is preferred. Must be comfortable speaking with corporate executives. Knowledge of career services and university rules/regulations. Experience with speaking to small and large audiences. Experience with interview scheduling software (Handshake or similar).
Job Duties:
- Work with employers to arrange OCI (on campus interview) schedules and information sessions/tables, including outreaching to employers in job board.
- Work with Career Center staff and UNT faculty to establish successful OCI practices.
- Collaborate with Employer Development Coordinator(s) to perform warm outreach to engage employers in on campus recruiting.
- Track and monitor employer engagement with interviewing on campus, and maintain continual relationship with employers.
- Assist Employer Services Team and Assistant Director in hosting career fairs and other related events, including events that involve members of the business community, government departments, nonprofit organizations, etc.
- Develop system and processes as necessary to improve on campus interviews, including but not limited to marketing, employer newsletters, benchmarking with other universities, hosting educational info sessions for employers, supporting outreach to local companies, and other relevant ideas.
- Assist and develop strategies with the Employer Services Graduate Assistant about the Professional Networking Series as needed.
- Troubleshoot problems that occur on OCIs with employers or students by routinely monitoring interviews and acting preemptively when possible.
- Assist Student Employment Team in processing I9s as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
